John was a touchy subject, particularly because he had raised the boys in a life she had so desperately tried to keep them from, but also because she was dead and wouldn't see him again.

"Not here, unfortunately." She still offered a smile, though. "He's stubborn so he might just be taking his time getting here."

Or he'd never show up.

"Well, if you have some experience, then you might settle at the inn a little easier than others. There are some people who can use magic here and others who don't look entirely human. Everyone here is not dangerous to you." Or so she hoped, anyways.
