Shifting the cat into the crook of one arm, she took the offered hand and stood uncertainly. She looked, not dizzy on her feet, but confused by it. That she could be upright and not continuing to break things. That she could hurt so much and not be dying.
Not knowing how to give voice to any of that, though, she only stupidly mumbled, "Thank you."
