[EP] making your own fun - OTA
Feb. 20th, 2018 09:05 pmDorian was something of an expert, he felt, when it came to finding things with which to occupy himself. Only boring people were bored, blah blah blah, and he'd never heard himself accused of being boring. At least, not by anyone whose opinion was actually worth something. Who knew or cared what the lesser folk of creation - the Venatori, for example, or people who enjoyed Qunari opera unironically - thought about anything?
Today's effort at self-amusement had started as a rather civic-minded conviction that he would detail the spells and design of his little time-magic focus cube currently interred in one of the library cases. If something should happen to him but not it, well, it seemed a good idea to make sure someone else had a fighting chance at understanding it in need. This high-minded idea had actually lasted a good three hours straight before he'd veered off into less useful entertainment.
Currently, said less-useful entertainment involved loose pieces of paper being held stiff by magic and stacked edgewise to make a card castle over a foundation of actual books. Despite the silliness of its appearance, it was in fact a decent concentration exercise, as each piece of paper had to be held in place individually. Lose concentration, the whole thing would collapse.
Of course, if he placed a 'card' wrong, it also collapsed. Forcing him to start over. Gravity, Dorian was sure, did these things on purpose.
