[Log] Otherworlds: Scheming (Kitty x Corbie)
Kitty has an idea to cheer Piotr up and gets Corbie's help with it.
Where: Cafe
When: During Asphodel plot
"So, you know Dorian, right?"
Corbie still looked pretty stressed out even after Jackson was back in the Inn and safely alive, and Kitty needed a partner in crime. Illyana might do it, but she wasn't going to enjoy this and Corbie might. If nothing else, it would distract her.
Stressed was perhaps a good way to put it, since Corbie found herself torn more than once between knowing Jackson would hate it if she fussed and wanting to make sure he didn't go do something else entirely rock stupid.
Hey, he'd almost died. Fretting a little wasn't that weird.
"We talk magic," Corbie offered as a kind of affirmation. "Why?"
"Do you know if he's gay?" Kitty thought he was, but she hadn't asked him. That seemed presumptuous. "Piotr's been kind of glum since Mac left, and I know he really likes men who are confident and outgoing. I was thinking a date might cheer him up."
Corbie thought about that. She'd bet anything she had that he was, but it wasn't like they'd ever actually talked about that. "I'm not completely sure. Though I'm pretty confident if I asked him 'what do you like in a man?' I'd get a weird look just because 'where did that come from' and not because 'Where did you get that idea.'"
Kitty nodded. "Yeah, that's the impression I got." Not that her gaydar was particularly reliable. "Would you be willing to ask him? Just, you know, if he would be interested in a guy, and if so whether he'd let someone plan a date for him?"
There was a step missing there to Corbie's mind. "Well, what he likes in a guy as step two, but sure." She thought Dorian liked her well enough to put up with a little prodding, and while she didn't know Piotr well at all, he seemed like a nice guy.
"Yeah, of course. Sorry, that probably sounded like, 'well, they're both gay...'" Kitty blushed a little at saying that. "I probably should've added that I'm pretty sure they at least like each other platonically. I saw them talking once and there was lots of eye contact and smiling."
"All right." Corbie nodded. "I'm in. Anything people can do to be happy around here, I'm all for it." There were so few chances to be really fulfilled at the inn, the ones that appeared needed to be snatched and wrestled into submission as soon as possible.
Which was how, a couple of hours later, Kitty and Corbie found themselves on Asphodel station in front of the same kiosk she'd seen with Peter. "I'm thinking something sort of active, that gets them moving around, seeing things they might be able to talk about. That way, if the chemistry isn't there, they can still have a nice time."
"Sounds like a smart plan," Corbie agreed, unable to keep her eyes from darting around at the strangeness of the station. "Have anything in mind off the top of your head, or we starting from scratch?"
"It might be dumb, but I was thinking some kind of scavenger hunt." She had vague ideas about each of them having to show off their strengths as people in order to get the items or tokens, but she wasn't sure how it would work.
Corbie... honestly wasn't sure if Dorian would find something like that unsophisticated or deeply amusing. But either way, that made for a memorable bonding experience. She grinned. "That sounds ridiculous. Let's do it."
