Emma had a higher tolerance than some for pains-in-the-ass who were actually pretty decent guys, and Alec wasn't that bad, really, as long as you gave him something to focus on instead of making trouble.

Plus, making it could a kind of connection to your friend, when he's not here and your not there. And if you do get back there, you could make it for him, or teach him how to make it.
