[GP/EP] Check-in Day

Liz was starting to get better at the whole check-in day stuff. She knew she hadn't seen 'everything' yet, but she was learning from watching Kitty and Caroline and the others how to approach distressed, confused, and even angry people. It wasn't always perfect, but she was getting better.

With the help from the bakery, there were muffins on trays in the lobby - Mary had insisted. She insisted on coming in every once in a while to restock the trays too.

Liz had helped bring another tray to the front desk and then moved to sit at one of the couches that had a view of the front doors. She had a complicated science essay for Kitty due in a week and Liz was having trouble finding the right wording to express her thoughts.

Every once in a while, Liz would look up to see if there was someone knew approaching. There could be no one today or there could be a lot. Briefly, she wondered if someone else from home would show up. A part of her was curious who that would be, but she found a larger part of herself was hoping no one else would.

"It's nice to meet you, Liz," Steve said, holding his large, warm hand out for her to shake. His grip was firm but comforting.

"Has he, now? That's... that's mighty kind of him. I wish I could say the same, only I'm just getting to know him here."

Steve nodded. There were a lot of reasons why the people from his world seemed to be the same. It was possible they came from similar places in their timeline. Steve hadn't put that much thought to it since he'd been here.

"Well, I'm certainly glad to get to know him, too." It was more than just a little glimpse into his future. Peter was a good kid, and Steve liked him.

Steve was definitely nice. And he liked Peter, too, thuogh he was bound to grow even mroe attached as they spent time together here at the hotel.

"So far so good. How long have you been here?"

"Wow." A whole year? Steve wasn't sure what to think about that. On the one hand, he didn't want to be here for a whole year. On the other... well, it wasn't so bad. He was acclimating. There were a few people he missed, but aside from that? He kinda liked not having the weight of the world on his shoulders.

"Oh, if anyone can figure out a way to get us back home, it's Tony."

"Maybe." Steve said, nodding. He wasn't sure. Sometimes it felt like the longer he stayed here, the happier he was just to simply stay here. Confusing as it was, it was comforting, too.

"That he is." Steve gave a little smile and soft chuckle. "I don't think I've met Kitty yet. But I'd like to at some point."

"An obstacle course?" Steve asked, grinning softly. "That sounds like fun. You'll have to let me know when it's finished." He was sure he'd get to meet Kitty eventually. And that he'd love to run the course.

"Thanks." Steve gave the young woman a bright smile. He was thankful to have so many friendly and helpful people about. "I'll definitely take you up on that offer."

Then he had to go... sort everything out. Figure out what he was up to. This was gonna take some adjusting.
