[GP/EP] Check-in Day

Liz was starting to get better at the whole check-in day stuff. She knew she hadn't seen 'everything' yet, but she was learning from watching Kitty and Caroline and the others how to approach distressed, confused, and even angry people. It wasn't always perfect, but she was getting better.

With the help from the bakery, there were muffins on trays in the lobby - Mary had insisted. She insisted on coming in every once in a while to restock the trays too.

Liz had helped bring another tray to the front desk and then moved to sit at one of the couches that had a view of the front doors. She had a complicated science essay for Kitty due in a week and Liz was having trouble finding the right wording to express her thoughts.

Every once in a while, Liz would look up to see if there was someone knew approaching. There could be no one today or there could be a lot. Briefly, she wondered if someone else from home would show up. A part of her was curious who that would be, but she found a larger part of herself was hoping no one else would.

"The wold would end if you didn't put in numbers?" Ororo was a little confused about that. "Did you forget to put in numbers and came here instead?" She had never heard of anything like that, but she'd also never heard of a mutant that could enhance powers before Apocalypse either.

"The world didn't actually end," Hurley says. "We were just told it would. All that really happened was this huge electromagnetic wave did something and the hatch exploded. I ended up here after that."

A beat.

"Did something like that bring you here?"

“Nope, I was helping a friend with his technology. I hid in a fog and when the fog disappeared, I was here.” Storm shook her head. “Though it could have been something Hank was working on. It could have been electromagnetic.” To be honest, Ororo hadn’t really been paying attention when he was talking about it.

"How do you work on technology in a fog?" Hurley asks, bewildered. Maybe this is some sort of weirdtech. Weirdtech is apparently the norm here.

“It was to detect me in a fog.” Ororo explained. “Professor McCoy was working on the technology.” She couldn’t even imagine how it worked, but all that mattered was that the Professor did know, hopefully anyway.

"Are people, like, trying to find people in fog often? That seems like a lot of work, dude." At least for something weirdly specific.

"There are some people that have the ability to create a fog so that they can hide from their hunters. Those that hunt them would kill them because of that ability." Ororo explained.

"Uh..." Hurley says to that. "Okay." He has no idea what's going on, but to be fair, he's pretty sure no one knows exactly what's going on with him when he starts talking about the island or the Others or the Smoke Monster.

"I'm staying over in Room 111, so if you need anything, you can let me know. If I'm not in my room, I'm usually working in the kitchen."

Ororo was used to relying on herself but she made note of his room number anyway. She wasn't sure that she'd stay in the room that Hurley said was provided for her. At least not until she made her own reconnaissance.

"Thanks. I should go find my room and see what the Inn has in store for me."

"Good luck," Hurley says with final wave. And with that, he heads off to the cafe to start his shift.
