[GP/EP] Check-in Day

Liz was starting to get better at the whole check-in day stuff. She knew she hadn't seen 'everything' yet, but she was learning from watching Kitty and Caroline and the others how to approach distressed, confused, and even angry people. It wasn't always perfect, but she was getting better.

With the help from the bakery, there were muffins on trays in the lobby - Mary had insisted. She insisted on coming in every once in a while to restock the trays too.

Liz had helped bring another tray to the front desk and then moved to sit at one of the couches that had a view of the front doors. She had a complicated science essay for Kitty due in a week and Liz was having trouble finding the right wording to express her thoughts.

Every once in a while, Liz would look up to see if there was someone knew approaching. There could be no one today or there could be a lot. Briefly, she wondered if someone else from home would show up. A part of her was curious who that would be, but she found a larger part of herself was hoping no one else would.

"Well, maybe it's time to learn." Steve said, smiling warmly. "Might as well, we've got a lot of time on our hands around these parts." Being at the Madonna Inn with no job and no school meant a lot of people had a lot of time to kill.

"No," Steve laughed. "No, I do like to listen to music, though."

"I think I'll leave the music playing to other people." He said. "Something about being able to be completely in the moment when singing makes you a better singer, you know? But, if you like listening to music, maybe I'll ask you to come to a show I'm going to do her eventually."

"A show? I'd love to attend." It might help Steve feel more at home, to get him out to meet others, to enjoy some good music? What an excellent idea. "Just let me know when and I'll be there."

Maria felt herself blush. She knew she was with Michael back home, but it was hard not to feel flattered a hottie like Steve would want to attend a show of hers.

"I will." She promised with a nod. Better go before you start to drool, Maria. "I should get going though. I'll see you around!"

She was a pretty girl. Steve felt a strong desire to protect her as he saw the blush cross her cheeks. He nodded, smiling.

"I'll see you around, Maria. It was nice to meet you."

Then he turned to wander in the direction of food.
