Not Pink Enough (OTA)

She liked the pink of the hotel a lot. If she had to guess, she'd say that whoever built the place kept her aesthetics in mind. Still, there were some places were pink was lacking and on a hot day like today, the pool was one of those places. Clad in her bikini, she was lounging on a pink shell floaty with sunglasses on and an umbrella drink in her hand. She casually touched the water and the water instantly turned pink like she had dumped a bunch of pink food colouring into the water.

Aphrodite let out a relaxing sigh. "Much better!" Smiling, she sipped her drink.

"A few." Tony tipped the rim to his lips as he soaked up the sun. He'd gotten the chance to even out his tan during his honeymoon before returning to the masses, as it were. He turned a hospitable smile towards the woman with very good taste as she floated beside him feet away. "Pity it's not my day job. My job around here's far less exciting."

Aphrodite's job was being the goddess of love, but she knew mortals couldn't be as lucky. Her perfectly shaped eyebrows lifted a little. "And what is your day job?" She didn't even know the man's name and here she was sipping on his wonderfully made drink and talking to him. Times had definitely changed.

"I work the wood, I shape the metal, I connect a few circuits." Tony nodded his chin towards her. "Call me Tony."

Definitely like Hephaestus. They'd probably get along swell. Still, Tony was much cuter.

"Aphrodite." She winked at him. "I lounge, I listen to requests, I occasionally make the pool pink." All of this was work in Aphrodite's eyes.

"The Aphrodite," Tony inquired, quite open to the prospect. He was married to a god of myth, why not be graced by the presence of another?

"In the flesh." Aphrodite had met Thor, of course. You couldn't be a deity and not feel the power coming from Thor and Loki. "Your name sounds familiar..." Where had she heard the name Tony?

"So my name's spread to the Norse and Greek pantheon?" He mused, smirking wryly. "Just kidding. I married into the former. Still waiting on my apotheosis."

She raised an amused eyebrow and then let out a soft, melodious laughter. "Well, I don't know about that, but your tall, ruggedly handsome husband did mention you. He has a chest for days, that one." Thor kind of reminded her of Hercules. She wondered if that made Tony Iolous...Tony seemed smarter than that.

"Congratulations though. If you two could make babies, they'd be very cute."

Many spouses would have gone on the defensive at such a suspiciously intimate remark, asked a few questions, posture a bit and call it a day but instead Tony's grin grew even further. Oh yeah. I know.

"If we could, I'm not sure how the half-mortal, half-deity thing would parse out genetically. Maybe you have some knowledge?"

Aphrodite scrunched my nose. "So not my wheel house. I'm in charge of all the fun stuff. That's more Eileithyia." Aphrodite liked to say she was the sex and what came after it was more other people's realms. This was especially true whenever Zeus decided to have an affair and piss off Hera.

"But if I had to choose... His hair, your eyes, your body, but with his muscles and I can't speak for down below so you'd have to choose there." She winked at him.

“That kids got nothing to worry about.” Drink in hand and Aphrodite was only too willing to indulge that particular flight of fancy. Talk about dangerous. He closed an eye, nodding his chin towards her—though he had to be careful not to stare too long. She had a mesmerizing effect not unlike Bo.

“I gotta say, god’s and goddesses galore and I’ve yet to meet one I couldn’t drink with. Call me a believer.”

"Athena can be a bore. And Hera? Pfft." She rolled her eyes. "You'd have more fun drinking with a rock." That much was beyond true, though Aphrodite was also biased.

"Dionysus is fun and Ares, if you can put up with all his bicep flexing."

Tony rolled his body in a stretch like a cat in the sun. He felt both younger and older than he was in that moment, as goddesses so often made him feel.

"Lucky enough to bring any with you?"

"Not a one." She was mostly okay with that, though, as she looked at the man with the thing on his chest, she still thought of her husband. "Apparently one of my husband's kids is here. And you're a good reminder of him too. If I didn't know better, I'd have assumed you were a demigod too, with your love of machines and building and whatnot."

"I've been getting attached to 'cyborg' but I'll take 'demigod,'" He said as he peered sideways at her. "Who's the anklebiter?"

Aphrodite wasn't quite sure what 'cyborg' thing, but she figured it was a machine thing.

"Some teenage boy named Leo. He says he met a different version of me in his world. He was smart enough to say I'm the prettier version." She winked at Tony. "I'm surprised you two don't know each other. Hephaestus' kids are notoriously good with machines." Irritatingly so at times.

He would've gotten along with my boy, was the immediate reply that came to mind. Tony smiled distantly.

"He old enough to drink?" Tony lifted his glass. "Speaking of, second round?"

"Where I'm from, everyone's old enough to drink." Aphrodite didn't really keep track of mortal laws. Her eyes moved to the empty glass in her hand, then back to him. A soft smile spread across her lips. "Sure. This time it's on me." She wiggled her fingers and the glasses were full again of the same liquid. She let out a soft giggle, pleased with herself.
