After her first night at the Madonna Inn and after
asking to stay with Peter, Annie snuck out of the room when she thought the coast was clear. She went back to her room, changed into a
t-shirt she found at the boutique and some jeans. It was weird for Annie to wake up and not have her mother making breakfast for her. It was weirder, still, not to have to go to school.
I wouldn't be going to school today back home either. Back home I'm somewhere else because Regent found us and took my dad.
Annie slid into a booth and stared at the tabletop. She no longer had her bracelet on thanks to Peter, but her eyes lingered where it normally was. Annie tried not to look as sad as she felt.
