GP/EP: Check-In Day: Turning Tricks into Treats
Instead of the remains of a raucous night of dedicated drinking, the chairs were up on the tables, the counter was cleaned, the floor had been vacuumed and mopped as appropriate. Kitty had had plenty of time to straighten up at close yesterday, since almost everyone seemed more interested in drinking in Bonesville. For her part, she'd had enough after her and Wyatt's little adventure in Funland. At least, she'd had enough for the few days it would take her to heal.
On the upside, that made opening up this morning easy and fast. On the downside, it meant she had an entire day with not much to distract her from wondering when Barrel of Fun would lock down access to the outside and why it couldn't open onto a world with higher tech. She had managed to scavenge some computer circuitry and cell phones, but she hadn't worked out how they'd solve her current tech problem yet.
If Dot were still here, she'd be baking for Halloween. Even if they'd had to explain Halloween to her, she'd be making cookies and candy and cakes, and probably sewing costumes, too. Those thoughts summoned a wistful sigh from Kitty while she took down the chairs. She was still sighing when she finished refreshing her stock of cut up fruit.
By mid-afternoon, she'd put away a pot and a half of coffee, she was practically vibrating, and a buzz-by from Caroline prompted an amazing idea. Why not spend the afternoon testing Halloween and Thanksgiving cocktails, to help turn the arrival trick of Check-In Day on the 1st into, well, a little bit of a treat? So it was that the new arrivals, two days earlier than expected, found the bar counter covered with spooky and kooky and dry-ice steamy drinks and Kitty literally spinning between her coffee cup and the next bright green, weirdly black, or pumpkin orange drink.
[ooc: find Kitty making any of these or drinking yet another cup of coffee, she's OTA]

Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"Five months." Vex had always had a head for figures, and her arrival wasn't something she was likely to forget. "It gets easier. I think."
Her smile brightened as she tried to determine whether the woman was being deliberately sensual with the candy – the pops were excellent for that purpose, although these days she saved that sort of thing for Percy... or if it helped her haggling – and she offered the hand not holding the bag of candy. "Vex'ahlia. Most people call me Vex."

Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"I'd say it's a pleasure to meet you, Bo, but that sounds cruel when you've just been ripped from your world."
Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"Yeah. Still getting over the whole 'not in Kansas anymore' thing. Though you'd think I'd be used to weird stuff by now."
Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"As hard as it will be to believe today, give it a few months, you might realize you miss the weird shit. Not that there isn't any strangeness," there was the door to another world through Room 144, that could disappear again at any time.
"Not being under constant threat of death has been nice, and who wouldn't want a vacation? But I wasn't quite ready to retire from adventuring."

Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"If it helps, you may still be there for your friends. The magic is beyond me, but my brother, boyfriend, and friend all arrived here months before I did, and yet, their last memories of our world were a good week before the last time I saw them in our world. Another friend arrived later, and I believe her when she says a year had passed where we were all safe and happy."
Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"So your brother is here, and other people you know. That must be nice." She paused, thinking. "Does that happen often?"

Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"On the other side, I have a few friends would who really like this place." She rolled her eyes. "One would definitely find it fascinating."
Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"Everything being free is nice. And there are something's absolutely fascinating to me, but that are apparently commonplace to those whose worlds are closer to this one. Air conditioning, hot and cold running water on demand, phones, condoms - so many wonderful, useful things."
Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
That was a new one for Bo although maybe it shouldn't be at this point.
Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"But there are many here from Earth, and others from somewhere different. From different times as well. But this place seems to have been a part of Earth, or made to look like it, and those more familiar with it seem to think this is the nineties, but I don't know the calendar that well yet."
Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"I guess if something can really keep us here like magic than it'd be powerful enough to do all that." She paused, thinking, then scrunched her nose. "Does that mean someone from my past or future could show up?"
Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"More often it seems to be a difference of days or weeks. Maybe months."
Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"Not really big on secrets about my life."
Re: Bo's arrival - Assigned Threads
"Is there anyone in particular you'd be looking for? We're sort of like a small village here; everyone knows everyone at least by sight, if not well. And we try to keep an eye on on the usual arrival days... I'm not sure why it was early this time."

"Good luck, Bo. I know it's an adjustment being here, and I hope you find who you're looking for."
