GP/EP: Check-In Day: Turning Tricks into Treats

Instead of the remains of a raucous night of dedicated drinking, the chairs were up on the tables, the counter was cleaned, the floor had been vacuumed and mopped as appropriate. Kitty had had plenty of time to straighten up at close yesterday, since almost everyone seemed more interested in drinking in Bonesville. For her part, she'd had enough after her and Wyatt's little adventure in Funland. At least, she'd had enough for the few days it would take her to heal.

On the upside, that made opening up this morning easy and fast. On the downside, it meant she had an entire day with not much to distract her from wondering when Barrel of Fun would lock down access to the outside and why it couldn't open onto a world with higher tech. She had managed to scavenge some computer circuitry and cell phones, but she hadn't worked out how they'd solve her current tech problem yet.

If Dot were still here, she'd be baking for Halloween. Even if they'd had to explain Halloween to her, she'd be making cookies and candy and cakes, and probably sewing costumes, too. Those thoughts summoned a wistful sigh from Kitty while she took down the chairs. She was still sighing when she finished refreshing her stock of cut up fruit.

By mid-afternoon, she'd put away a pot and a half of coffee, she was practically vibrating, and a buzz-by from Caroline prompted an amazing idea. Why not spend the afternoon testing Halloween and Thanksgiving cocktails, to help turn the arrival trick of Check-In Day on the 1st into, well, a little bit of a treat? So it was that the new arrivals, two days earlier than expected, found the bar counter covered with spooky and kooky and dry-ice steamy drinks and Kitty literally spinning between her coffee cup and the next bright green, weirdly black, or pumpkin orange drink.

[ooc: find Kitty making any of these or drinking yet another cup of coffee, she's OTA]

"Whitechapel certainly does," Jackson confirmed, and drank to that. He still believed he'd be getting back to it quickly enough. And back to Susan.

Thankfully Trick wasn't around to face palm when the name went right over Bo's head. She was not big on history so there was nothing that went off in her head.

"From what I can tell, you're probably pretty competent, so I'm sure they're happy to have you." She paused. "You're from Earth, right?"

Jackson couldn't help the incredulous look he leveled at her at that question - and wasn't sure he would have wanted to help it, anyway. "Yeah. Yeah, I'm from Earth."

Bo inwardly winced and reminded herself this particular human did not believe in the 'other' of things, but it had been on her mind since meeting Vex. "Me too. From Toronto." Which no one really knew, so she added. "Canada." In case that helped.

"I know where Toronto is, darlin'," Jackson assured her. He had no plans of getting used to the circumstances all of these people insisted were real - including other worlds. "'m from London, most recently," he added, since she had to not know where Whitechapel was, to have asked him if he was from Earth.

"I've heard good thing about London." Bo wasn't a traveler, per say, unless she was running away from something and she had decided not to run anymore.

"The farthest I've been is the the East Coast."

"We talkin' Nova-Scotia-East Coast or - Virginia-East Coast?" Jackson inquired. Sure, Ontario was already on the Canadian East Coast, but there was more Eastern than it by far, and she hadn't specified one way or the other.

"Nova Scotia. I'm not really a 'cross the border' girl." And she had only ended up in Nova Scotia from necessity.

"I'm told the States are really pretty, though." She had to wonder, now that she knew what she knew, what it was like for Fae.

"Maybe one day I'll finally do it." Probably not though.

"Well, I been told we're in California," Jackson pointed out with a half-smile. "Welcome to the United States of America, darlin'."

"Nothing like traveling cheap, right?" She playfully winked at him before finishing her beer and sighing.

"I guess I should get a head start on trying to get out of here." Bo was well aware that everyone was under the impression no one could leave, but that wasn't going to stop her from trying.

"Wish you all the best," Jackson told her genuinely. He'd wait until morning - until daylight - to give it his own shot.

Bo wasn't concerned about the dark - she'd hunted enough stuff by now that it was second nature.

Bo gave him a nod as shes stood up. "You too." Then she walked away, hips swaying as she does.
