Coming back to consciousness hurt, significantly more than Loki remembered hurting in recent memory. There didn't seem to be a single part of his body that wasn't in some kind of pain, and on top of that he became aware, very quickly, of an odd whistling emptiness that said too much magic. He couldn't even have called one of his knives.

All of that being the case, he didn't move. If the fight was still going on, he intended to stay down. For a little while. Until he had something to act with or on. Or until he legitimately passed out again; that seemed horribly likely, with the way his head was swimming and the warm-wet of blood flowing out instead of staying in.

The desert was essentially silent, though, for the definition of 'silence' that included the sounds of wind and ordinary movement. Footsteps. Voices.

He wasn't dead, then. Was anyone else?

"Burger King! God I miss going to fast food places like that." She took a healthy bite of her pizza. "Next off world that has fast food places like Burger King, we should definitely go."

Carlos almost moaned at the thought. "Pizza's all well and good, but you need proper greasy burgers to get the real kick of energy after today."

"Exactly." Buffy had to agree. "And we're lucky with our metabolisms. We can eat a lot and keep it off." Though to be honest Buffy wasn't so sure how that would work at the Inn since she didn't go slaying every night or defeat some big bad every year.

"Yup," Carlos agreed with her, reaching for yet another slice of pizza. He was okay, he'd burned a lot of energy that day at least. "Not complaining about that. So how are you? You didn't get hurt, did you?"

"Will you hate me when I say Slayer healing?" Buffy took another bite of her pizza. "I did get cracked ribs. I have a pretty bruise and the latest in bandage wear but it will be healed by tomorrow." She made a sympathetic face at his injuries. "Sorry. I'd give you some of it if I could."

"Damn! I know I will heal, but it takes me longer than you. I'm just grateful there are healers around, because I miss the Warden healers at home." But even those Warden healers would have been challenged by how much damage was caused. Humans just took a long time to heal.

He leaned into her for a moment. "Hey, I know you would, but it's just one of those things. How bad are the ribs?

"I've had worse." Buffy admitted. She pulled up the hem of her shirt to show the lovely bruise that once was purple but now was that ugly green/brown of healing.

"You should have seen it after I had been in a fight with Spike. Uh a vampire." She made a face. "It was that ugly purple for a few days."

Then there was the fight with Angelus, but Buffy shied away from that one.
