strangetrip | Earning and burning calories

Jane had a lot of restless energy lately. Most of that was due to the attack at the inn as well as all the thoughts about Asgard, Sif, Thor and the Warriors three. The best way that she had of getting rid of that pent up energy was kickboxing. It allowed her to hit something and to think which was a nice combination.

There were so many question especially after talking to Tony and the possibility that the American government working with Asgard or on their own could have taken and changed her memories from Sif. The possibility was real, but with the memories and dreams that she'd had since waking up at the inn, she could also be Jane/Remy/Alice from South Africa and New York. As she told Liz, Jane wasn't sure if she wanted to Sif or Jane, but the truth was, she wanted to know. But, she also didn't want to know. It was nice to think that she had an 'exotic' background of being from Asgard and friends with the god of Thunder. That was a nicer life than a daughter of murdered Apartheid protestors and raised to be a soldier by first the government of South Africa and then by Ellen Briggs or how she was known by the FBI - Shepherd.

At the thought of how she might have been raised, her fists and leg hit the bag with added force. It wasn't long before she needed to take a break and some water. Jane reached for a towel to wipe the sweat and to reach for a bottle of water. Maybe she'd go for a swim after this.

After a nice workout that helped with the energy, Jane had changed into her bikini and swam a few laps. The laps had been to cool off and clear her thoughts, both of which helped. Now, she felt like a slug so instead of toweling off and going back to her room, she relaxed against the back of the lounge chair and let the sun dry her. One of the benefits of having Molly for a friend was that as soon as she sat on the lounge chair, a bottle of cold beer was delivered to her from the pool bar. She didn't even have to ask for it. It was nice. Now, if someone could just send her over a slice of pizza to go with the beer, she'd be good.

"Probably both." Jane chuckled. She set her water down and leaned back on her hands. "Have you met Thor?"

"Not officially." Buffy shook her head, "but I've seen him around and I know who he is. Why? Did you guys go on a date?" She waggled her eyebrows. Because for Buffy, her kickboxing thinking usually involved guys and Dean and Thor were both hotties.

Jane shook her head with a laugh. "No, but he thinks I might be someone from his world. I don't know if it's a look alike like Dean and Alec or if I am. The memories that I have match some of what he remembers of Sif. That's her name."

Buffy couldn't even imagine what it must be like to not have memories except for recent ones. "Sif. That's a pretty cool name." She grinned, "not as cool as Buffy but ... No, seriously, I like it. Does it feel familiar to talk to Thor? I mean quick instinct, without thinking about it."

Jane gave the question real thought, she closed her eyes and just let her instincts tell her the answer. "A part of me thinks so, but to be honest I don't know if that's really feeling or me wishing to be Sif."

"Probably both." Buffy acknowledged. "Sometimes you can wish for something hard enough that you start to believe it. And sometimes, you don't know why you feel how you do, but gut instinct has saved my life in more ways than I can count."

"Mine,too." Jane agreed. "Maybe if I do yoga or something to clear my head and just let my instinct guide me instead of my brain or my emotions, I'll figure it out."

She smiled over at Buffy, "even if I don't, I met a friend from another planet, which is definitely something different."

"I know right? I mean I know vampires and other things that go bump in the night but aliens. That's just mind blowing." But in a good way. "Makes you wonder what else is out there that we don't know about."

"Like a flying skull that wants to invade a place that people would probably pay good money to get out of." Jane teased, "but yeah, I know what you mean. I know it's ironic for me to say that my mine has expanded a lot of what's possible."

"Well a little ironic." Buffy admitted with a laugh, "but I get what you're saying and trust me, even if you had all your memories this place would still expand your mind of what's real and what's not."

"I think I'm going to have a hard time being normal if I ever leave." Jane said honestly, "whether it's New York or Asgard. It will be weird to not have the strange of the Inn in my usual life." She paused, "unless I don't remember this place then I guess it won't be an issue."

"Normal is overrated." Buffy assured her. "And, I'm pretty sure that you wouldn't have a normal life in New York or Asgard. Which really who would have a normal life on a planet where the god of thunder was a prince?" She grinned.

That made Jane laugh, "Okay you got me there. My life probably wasn't normal to begin with, whether I'm Jane or Sif. I think a lot of us here don't have normal lives back in the real world. Maybe that's why we adjust so well."

And she included herself in that because of the ease in which she adapted, despite no memories. It had to have come from a gut reaction to things.

"Yeah, I noticed that, too. At least most of the people I talked to. Even if they didn't have something in their lives, they were definitely go with the flow types."

"There are a lot of that. Or at least people that think on the fly and don't sweat the small stuff." Jane agreed. "Probably the most common with us but that makes sense. They wouldn't pick someone that would freak out easily if they suddenly found themselves in a weird multiverse inn."

Buffy thought about it and about the first time she'd learned that she was a Slayer. You would think that she would have freaked out but she hadn't. Well, a little bit but not as much as you'd think.

"Yeah, I think you're right. I think we've been looking to see what we have in common, but didn't look at the most obvious. We can handle unexpected crap thrown at us."
