strangetrip | Earning and burning calories

Jane had a lot of restless energy lately. Most of that was due to the attack at the inn as well as all the thoughts about Asgard, Sif, Thor and the Warriors three. The best way that she had of getting rid of that pent up energy was kickboxing. It allowed her to hit something and to think which was a nice combination.

There were so many question especially after talking to Tony and the possibility that the American government working with Asgard or on their own could have taken and changed her memories from Sif. The possibility was real, but with the memories and dreams that she'd had since waking up at the inn, she could also be Jane/Remy/Alice from South Africa and New York. As she told Liz, Jane wasn't sure if she wanted to Sif or Jane, but the truth was, she wanted to know. But, she also didn't want to know. It was nice to think that she had an 'exotic' background of being from Asgard and friends with the god of Thunder. That was a nicer life than a daughter of murdered Apartheid protestors and raised to be a soldier by first the government of South Africa and then by Ellen Briggs or how she was known by the FBI - Shepherd.

At the thought of how she might have been raised, her fists and leg hit the bag with added force. It wasn't long before she needed to take a break and some water. Jane reached for a towel to wipe the sweat and to reach for a bottle of water. Maybe she'd go for a swim after this.

After a nice workout that helped with the energy, Jane had changed into her bikini and swam a few laps. The laps had been to cool off and clear her thoughts, both of which helped. Now, she felt like a slug so instead of toweling off and going back to her room, she relaxed against the back of the lounge chair and let the sun dry her. One of the benefits of having Molly for a friend was that as soon as she sat on the lounge chair, a bottle of cold beer was delivered to her from the pool bar. She didn't even have to ask for it. It was nice. Now, if someone could just send her over a slice of pizza to go with the beer, she'd be good.

"Except for a few exceptions, that could be every day." Jane said with her hint of a smile. "Not that I mind the quiet, especially after the last excitement we just had."

Though the truth of it was that Jane had liked the battle and the adrenaline that came with it.

“In itself it was a decent break from the quiet,” Loki agreed, “even if the ending wasn’t ideal for me. I hate concussions.” Plus various other breaks and wounds, utter exhaustion, and an irritatingly clingy Thor. Why could the man not simply accept that Loki would take care of himself as he always had? It wasn’t like there had been any permanent injury, or like Thor’s human hadn’t been worse off. (Loki wasn’t sure of that one, though, as he didn’t know how much he’d actually managed to heal before lights out.)

Ah well. “How did you fare in the ‘excitement’?” It was the sort of thing one asked, for politeness, but Loki was genuinely curious. If this Jane was possibly Sif, she’d be glad to speak of her warrior skills.

"Only a few cuts and bruises. I was lucky." She was aware that it could have been worse. "They weren't expecting hand to hand I think." Jane smiled suddenly, "and I fight dirty."

She fought to win by any means necessary.

Loki pretended astonishment. “There are other ways to fight?” Dirty was effective, and anyone who had to deal with being outclassed on a regular basis learned to use every advantage.

That made Jane laugh, "well not according to me but talk to other people and you'd probably get a different answer." Though not the people that Jane usually hung out with.

“I think I’ll pass on soliciting wrong answers from idiots for now, thank you.” If Lady Sif had shown this sort of side to her personality, they might have gotten along better. Maybe.

"I like your style. I can see why Thor missed you." Jane said enjoying his sense of humor. He actually reminded her of Dean, Alec and Molly.

“We’ll see if you continue to see it as you get to know me.” It was oddly quite pleasant, if deeply strange, to hear good humor directed at him in that so-familiar voice. “Thor himself would no doubt be able to tell you any number of stories.”

"He has told me some about you." Jane agreed with a smile. "Though they were more about Asgard itself and the Warriors Three."

The stories about Loki weren't always favorable, but it was clear Thor and he shared a deep bond, at least on Thor's side.

"Yes, there would be more of those." Loki had been present for many of them, but usually decidedly in the background while the louder group of Thor, the Warriors, and Lady Sif entertained each other. "And, more to the point, more likely to recall memories."

There was a flip in her stomach wondering if he thought she was Sif or just stating the obvious of memories triggered on someone that didn't have access to any.

"They definitely brought up some memories for me." She nodded, "were you close to the Warriors Three and Sif?" Jane honestly couldn't tell from Thor's stories because he'd concentrate on Sif particularly.

"That depends on your definition of 'close'. I would say no. We were never friends. They loathed me and would have been rid of me in a second if Thor hadn't insisted on my presence." Loki would have, at least sometimes, been more than happy to have been left behind. Sometimes, though, being with a group of people who hated him had seemed better than being alone.

Back then, anyway; he'd learned since then that alone was always better for him. "But I did spend a great deal of time around them and knew them fairly well, I think."

Jane's brow furrowed as he talked. Why would friends of Thor not welcome his brother? He seemed both interesting and amusing.

"Well, I guess I can be a bitch in any life I've had." Jane said with a half smile. "Would it help if I said I'm sorry for being one if I turn out to be actually Sif?"

“There’s no need. Thor would be happy if you were, and I can generally hold my own as needed.” Loki smiled. The offer of apology was funny more than anything. “For what it’s worth, the Three were always worse than Lady Sif. If they stay gone, I’ll be happy enough.”

"Can't promise that, but I will promise to kick their ass if they show." Her lips twitched. "Not that you need help with that being a shapeshifting kitten and all."

Loki laughed. “Oh yes, kittens are very fierce combatants. Alas, I am comparatively not much of a fighter.”

"I don't know, your illusion magic is pretty kick ass. I bet you have your own way of being a fierce combatant." She grinned, "maybe not as much as a kitten, but in your own way."
