[EP] Just chillin' out maxin' relaxin' all cool

Unlike others at the Inn, Clarice didn't get a ghostly visit and she was very much okay with that. She had enough ghosts in her head without visits from home telling her how much she screwed up or will screw up or whatever. Even though the weather had been mild, the sunsets coming later meant that spring was on its way. The nights were still freaking chilly but it was warm enough out now to enjoy the pool. At least a heated one and if it got too cold there was always teleporting to her room. Alcohol helped to keep you warm, too and since the pool had a bar, it was win/win.

Clarice did a few laps in the pool while she waited for her lunch to be delivered. As she came to the end of one lap, she saw Molly with a plate of food. "Perfect timing." Clarice said as she pushed herself out of the pool to eat the chicken and fries with her Manhattan. "Thanks!"

There was a quirk to her lips when she pulled the cherry out of the drink and popped it in her mouth to make a knot with the stem. It was a fun reminder of Thor and she made a mental note to see what he was up to.

"No wonder Loki and I get along. We share stubborn." Clarice laughed. "So who wins when Loki stubborn, meets Thor stubborn?"

"Cheer up. I bet you'll be able to out stubborn him in no time here." Clarice teased him.

"He definitely has the advantage," he says. Had Loki not died, Thor might have had an easier time holding his ground.

"One more round?" he asks. "I'll tie another stem for you."

He promptly pops a cherry into his mouth in promise.

"You're on, and I'll tie a stem for you." Clarice grabbed a cherry to do just that with a wink at her friend.

Thor somehow manages to mostly hold a grin as he pulls the stem from the cherry with his teeth and begins to work his tongue around it. When he's finally done, he's managed to complete the task even faster than he did the first time.

"Now drinks," he says, pouring out one for his friend, and then himself. "You'll need to tell me what you've been up to since the last time we've met. You haven't said much about yourself this entire conversation."

"You means besides same shit, different day?" Clarice laughed. "Nothing really, besides finding that cave that I told you about."

Thor twirls a finger. "What about the theme park? Did you go?"

"Yeah, got a new pet." Clarice said with a wry twist of her lips. "It's a shock I know, but I was a smart ass with Alec, and he actually won a chameleon for me. I picked it because I didn't I'd get it." She laughed at herself. "Serves me right."

But point in fact, she actually didn't mind the lizard, even though she had to provide it bugs to eat.

"What'd you name them?" he asks, clearly interested. Thor loved animals, even the weird, creepy-crawly ones.

Especially the weird, creepy-crawly ones.

"Boy George." She said with a quick, teasing grin. She didn't really, but it amused her. "I actually didn't name him yet, besides, Lizard. Any suggestions?"

"What's he look like?" Thor asks. "What's his personality?"

Clarice began to describe the chameleon to Thor. "It's mostly green until it isn't anymore. He - she - actually I'm not sure what it is, but anyway they turn blue a lot which is odd since my room is mostly green except for the butt ugly Buffalo head on the wall."

"Do they have Disney movies back in your world?" Thor isn't sure whether or not Disney is a thing that exists in every universe. Even the people who lived on an Earth similar to the one back in his universe had some pretty massive changes. "Why not Pascal?"

He had watched that movie three times the day he had been tasked to look after Jane's niece and nephew a few years back, before the two of them had broken up. It was the one thing that kept them from running wild around Jane's sister's house.

They did have Disney movies in her world, but she really hadn't watched that many. It was bad enough when the world saw you as a freak but when you're little and all you see were perfect white girls as a princess .... But she had watched Mulan over and over again. Clarice had felt a connection to the character and not just because of the Asian connection, though probably mostly.

So it took her a few minutes to clear the cobwebs of her memories and remember who Pascal was. "Yeah, we do and I didn't even think of Pascal, but that would work."

"It's too bad it never came out on VHS," Thor says. "I quite liked it. Jane's niece used to play the one about the mermaid over and over again. And the one about the blue alien."

"Blue alien?" Clarice didn't remember that one, but it wasn't surprising that she didn't. "I didn't know that Disney did Scifi, too."

"The little wild one, with the big ears," Thor gestures out from his own ears, "and the six legs. He lives in Hawaii."

"Huh. Sounds different. I'll have to check it out when I get back." She paused, "unless they have it here or another Otherworld has Disney movies."

Which was possible or hell maybe Disney movies in an Otherworld were horror films. Who knew.

"I'll let you know if I find it," he says. He can't remember the name, but he's sure if he saw the cover, he'd know it in an instant. "I'm not sure if it's old enough to have been released on one of your VCR tapes." He definitely watched it with Jane's nephew and niece on DVD.

"Maybe the next Otherworld, I'll bring back a DVD player and some DVDs of later movies." Clarice smiled, "we could have a movie night and see something at least further into the 21st century."

"Would be nice if we were back somewhere closer to Earth," Thor says. "It was nice being in Europe. I used to go there a lot when I was much younger." Much. "Though about 6, 7, maybe 8 years ago, I battled the Dark Elves in Greenwich." That happened far more recently, though it was hard for Thor to remember exactly how long ago it was. Everything felt like it happened Before Inn and After Inn, and life had simply paused before it.

"Dark Elves?" That got Clarice's curiosity. "How'd you know they were dark? Did they have dark hoods?" She was serious but also teasing a bit, throwing in some Hollywood stereotypes.

Thor thinks about that for a moment. "They did favor dark clothing," Thor admits after a moment. "But Dark Elves were what we called the elves that hailed from Svartalfheim. They're different from the elves of Alfheim in appearance."
