[OTA] Amazing Organ

Jackson was, as often at this hour (unless he had plans with Corbie), at the bar, and well on his way to completely sozzled. He would have sworn up and down that he could still walk in a straight line, if asked, but the truth was that that line would have to be a little squiggly in places. But his Virginia drawl was more pronounced than usual, and he was at that energetic, talking-too-much stage where everybody nearby might be treated as a friend, no matter what his relation to them were, if they even had one.

"We don't talk about it often enough," he told the next such person his eyes landed on, without so much as a hello, "but the clitoris is, by far, the best organ in the entire human body. 'd ya know it's the only organ, the only one, that serves no purpose but pleasure? That's just..." His hands moved in the air as he looked for the right word, narrowly avoiding splashing bourbon with the one still holding a glass. "That's amazin'. Twice as many nerve endings as in a penis, too. Just picture that amount of pleasure. Men got played."

Perfectly respectable conversation to have with anyone, after ingesting as much bourbon as he had. Perfectly. Respectable.

Sunny reached up and flicked Jackson in the head like she would with her brothers when they were being stupid and they knew it. But she also answered, "Why so much food, and 'hooded lady' sounds like a nun."

Jackson's nose wrinkled instinctively as the first image that called forth was an old, severe reverend mother... but then his mind supplied fresh-faced young acolytes instead. "Well. There are some lovely nuns out there."

Not that she entirely disagreed with the sentiment given she hadn't been to church regularly since leaving her parents' house, but all the same.

Jackson frowned a little, even as his lips twitched. "Wait, you're Catholic?" He wasn't sure why he found that funny, but he did.

"Raised," she allowed, shoulders lifting in an uncertain shrug. Much as Sunny was not attached to the faith of her upbringing, the idea of being laughed at by this man was not a tolerable one. "And I've got a rosary in my room. I'm Igbo, most of us are Catholic."

"Well, hey, nobody's perfect," Jackson stated, more to move on from the topic than any other reason. The original topic of conversation was vastly more interesting, after all. "What do you call it then? Besides clitoris."

Flatly refusing to be flustered by the question, Sunny shrugged to hide an impulse to squirm. "Clit, I guess, if I've got reason to be informal about it."

"That's the problem right there," Jackson stated, and took another sip from his drink. "People think they're silly. They're celebratory! All right, not the bald man in the boat, that one's plain funny. But why are there so many words for cock, and so few for clit? It's a damn shame."

Sunny knew she really should walk away now, but like hell she was letting him just have this. "They're silly, I'm not celebrating, and probably sexism, the same thing that's telling you that you get to override an actual woman with a clitoris about what to call it."

Even with the apology, the coming tongue-lashing was plain on Sunny's face--

Until somehow, whether because she had reason to be downstairs instead of the library or because she'd heard Jackson was rambling about genitalia and that was bound to rub somebody the wrong way, Corbie flitted up, gave Jackson a peck on the cheek in passing, and went on her way as though nothing about that was unusual.

Certainly it wasn't so much for Sunny, she'd seen her colleague of sorts defuse tensions seemingly out of nowhere before, but, "Goddammit."

In any case, Sunny felt her anger draining. She drank her water. "I'd say I understand now why she likes you so much, except... no, I still don't get it."

Jackson tried, and failed, to catch a hold of Corbie as she breezed past, but there was a small, stupid smile on his face as he watched her go, before Sunny's next words redirected his attention on her. "You and me both, Sunny," he told her cheerily, turning to gesture for another drink. "You and me both."

It was a window to escape with dignity, and she could have taken it. Instead Sunny asked, "Dare I ask what sparked this ode to genitalia in the first place?"

Sunny didn't like Jackson. He was terrible. But she couldn't deny that he was fascinatingly terrible.

Jackson looked honestly surprised at her... but then again, Catholic, right. He settled down, took a drink, and told her, "There ain't nothing wrong with talkin' about anatomy - or sex. Kids could use learnin' about the clitoris. Way too many adults don't know the first thing 'bout it."
