[Arrival GP] it’s summer, right?
June, Xavin decided, was a puzzling month. It still seemed like spring in some ways, but was very summer already in others. Among the ways that it was summer: less demand for hot drinks. And yes, she could do iced, but that tended to mean hauling ice to her coffee-cart territory and that got old fast.
Since it was arrival day, therefore, she was trying something new. She’d taken over part of the cafe (with a decentish view of the lobby) and set it up with blenders, fruits, and other things. Surely smoothies would be acceptable, and the cafe space meant not having to haul ice.
As a further acknowledgement of probable sun and warmth, Xavin ensured there were obvious stacks of towels near the more usual baskets of things for new arrivals. If there were any newcomers and she’d forgotten something, well... it would probably be all right eventually.

Re: Jason and Janet
"I met another blonde girl, but she wasn't Eleanor. She didn't even call me a bad name once." It was actually kind of confusing. "She told me I looked great in a towel cape though! You want to see it?"
Re: Jason and Janet
Re: Jason and Janet
Jason excitedly got up with meant that the towel fort was destroyed by accident - oops. He could have easily taken one of those, but no, he went for another, bigger one. It was the brightest pink one. He pulled it over his shoulders and tied it into a knot around his neck. Then he put his hands on his hips and looked up at the ceiling dramatically. "How do I look?"
Re: Jason and Janet
"Perfect-o," she says. "I like the color."
Re: Jason and Janet
"Do you think it's pink enough?" It was probably the pinkest it was ever going to get, really. "You want to try one? You could have a girl cape!"
Re: Jason and Janet
Re: Jason and Janet
Jason seemed unphased. "Okay, then a Janet cape!" He held it out to her and wiggled the fabric like of like she was a bull and he a matador.
Re: Jason and Janet
"A Janet cape!" she says, clapping her hands together.
Janet promptly takes the towel from him and drapes it over her shoulders then ties it at the neck, not entirely unlike Jason -- though she manages to make it look much neater.
"There!"
Re: Jason and Janet
He clapped. "You look so dope! We could be like, two superhero people who fight crime and stuff." He proceeded to pretend to do some karate moves a child might re-enact from a movie. He jumped up on the bed and did a few more 'moves'.
Re: Jason and Janet
Provided there was actually any crime to fight.
Re: Jason and Janet
"Wait, hold up. For real?" He looked at her, still on the bed. "Like, real superheroes?"
Jason paused as a realization seemed to form over him.
"Does that mean.. we're at this hotel to like, become ones ourselves? Like that school in the X-Men?!"
Re: Jason and Janet
At least not here, anyway. There were plenty of ways to give yourself powers in the Good Place, but this was definitely not the Good Place. Or the Bad Place, either. It wasn't even a Neutral Place.
Re: Jason and Janet
He frowned just a little, but then the frown was replaced by one of Jason's smiles again. "Okay."
He jumped down off the bed - it was not very graceful, but at least he didn't fall flat on his face. "Hey, Janet? You're still my friend, right? Like even though Chidi and Tahani and Eleanor aren't here, we still got each others backs, right?"
Re: Jason and Janet
Re: Jason and Janet
"Like... if I needed a hug?" He gave her a smile and a look that said 'hugs are nice?'
Re: Jason and Janet
She gives Jason a tight, albeit somewhat wooden hug.
"There," she pronounces, taking a step back. She looks at Jason, clearly awaiting his assessment.
Re: Jason and Janet
He definitely liked it. He was still grinning ear-to-ear. "You're the best Janet!" He felt infinitely better that he was here with her.
"Wanna help me build a better fort?"
Re: Jason and Janet
Re: Jason and Janet
"Nah, the whole point of forts is building them. Come on, it's fun, I promise." He picked up a towel and held it out to her.
Re: Jason and Janet
She stretches the towel out between the chair and the bed, then looks over at Jason for his approval.
Re: Jason and Janet
"It's a start! Come on, I'll show you." Jason was confident in his towel-draping abilities and Janet's dopeness.
