[GP] training day
There was a trope that in prison there wasn't much to do except work out or read. As colorful as Madonna Inn might be, it was still a prison. And look, somebody had put together a library.
Put fifty some people, many of them military, adventurers, vigilantes, or superheroes of one stripe or another, in a prison with none of the urgent missions or near-death experiences they were used to, the fitness center was going to be a popular place. Maybe almost as popular as the bar.
... Probably not quite that popular.
There were free weights and weight machines, treadmills and ellipticals, yoga mats and exercise balls. A room set aside for classes, if someone decided to lead. A large square had been taped over an area of the floor off to one side as a make-shift sparring space. Sports equipment had been brought back from Bonesville for those who preferred more organized games. And those who had been stuck here longest remembered there hadn't always been a salmon ladder.
In other words, something for just about everybody. And you could usually find someone in there if you were looking for a spotter, workout buddy, sparring partner, friendly competition too.

OTA
But today, he wasn’t as interested in strength training as he was in blowing off some steam. He made his way over to the bench and loaded the bar with as much weight as it could stand. Easy as if he were lifting a broom, he settled into an easy rhythm and ran through some reps for a warm up.
Feeling unsatisfied, he looked to the sparing ring and a little smile spread across his face. A glance led his eyes to fall on a potential challenger, “Want to go round or two? I can be armored or unarmored, whatever is needed.”
Re: OTA
"Armoured? What's that supposed to me?"
Re: OTA
Re: OTA
Alec's eyes widened a bit and then he looked really impressed. He whistled. "nice that's a good defense."
Re: OTA
Re: OTA
Alec smiled wryly, stepping into the sparring area as well. His hands moved up and his stance took on a typical military ready position. He'd wait for Piotr to make the first move.
"Внешность может быть обманчива, большой человек" Said with a perfect accent. You never knew when you might have to spy on the Russians, after all.
(ooc: Translation: 'Looks can be deceiving, big man)
Re: OTA
Piotr had not forgotten Alec's strength from the day he arrived, or the speed and dexterity he exhibited with the vending machine. The fact that he could speak Russian so well gave him a slight pause, but not enough to show in his bearing. Piotr joined Alec in the sparing ring and fell into his own stance. The look on the other man's face reminded him of so many overconfident mutants.
With a swift motion, unhindered by the weight of his metal form, he threw a test punch with the assumption that Alec would move out of the way with enhanced speed. Without waiting to see if he was correct, he swept at where Alec's legs would be after the punch. It was a move he'd used to knock smaller, faster opponents onto their asses many times.
Re: OTA
His over-confidence meant that Piotr's assumptions were correct. Alec felt his feet knocked from under him and he landed on the mat on his back with an omph. "Okay, that' fair."
Don't under-estimate the big metal Russian man. Noted.
Alec did a kip-up. Standing again, he feinted right, but then jumped - more like a cat than a human - and flipped oved Piotr's head. Alec's intention was to grab the guy from the neck and bring him down to the mat that way. He knew physically punching him was probably going to result in broken limbs.
Re: OTA
In the time it took for the other man to get up and flip through the air, he settled into a patient defense stance. Rather than moving out of the way, he stood still as Alec's arms wrapped around his neck but the other man's weight (even with the momentum) wasn't enough to even move 500 pounds of pure metal.
Re: OTA
Aelc let go when he didn't feel Piotr's body give way and he landed and turned back to face Piotr, backing up a bit. "Big guy, have you thought about going on a diet."
Re: OTA
Re: OTA
"Not how I'm made, unfortunately." Alec decided he was going to need to try to trip up Piotr since brute force probably wasn't going to cut it. He started off feinting several jabs and kicks, trying to put him off balance.
