[GP] The De Rolo Wedding Reception
The calendar of "Kahl-ee-Fornea" was very different to that of Tal'Dorei. But the spring dance had been a good reminder for the Exandrians (one of them, anyway) that the Renewal Festival would take place more or less this time of year, landing always on the thirteenth day of Dulahei. It seemed a fitting time to set the 'small family dinner' in celebration of the marriage of Vex and Percy.
...Yeah, but no. Because Vax'ildan didn't mind a bit of revenge for their having done the thing without so much as telling him for several weeks, and because his sister always deserved the best of everything anyway, the garden had a whopping lot more than that for the happy couple as they opened the doors onto what first looked like pitch blackness. Until the big, white-hot spotlight snapped abruptly on to glare down on top of the pair with blinding scrutiny.
A familiar voice sang out from beyond, his ever-charming booming and crooning amplified to fill the whole of the outdoors by something called a 'microphone,' Scanlan using all his singular panache to belt out a melodic tune:
"There she is, Mrs. De Rolo
There she is, your ideal
The dreams of a million boys and girls who want to find love in Emon City
For Vex may turn out to more than Baroness of the first house of Whitestone and Grand Mistress of the Hunt
There he is, Mr. De Rolo
There he is, your ideal
With so much brooding and tinkering he took the town by storm
With his all-Whitestone face and form
And there they are
Walking on air, he is
Fairest of the fair, she is
There they are - Mr. and Mrs. De Rolooooooooooo~"
A resounding wave of applause, murmuring, cheers, and laughter broke out all around the newlyweds - one such unbridled merry cackle absolutely coming from the bride's brother - and Scanlan's tone changed immediately to a much more vibrant, excited, sporting-event-enthusiasm style of announcement: "Ladies and Gentlemen - it's the DE ROLO FAMILY!"
The strands of bulb lighting popped into yellow-soft brightness all at once, revealing the guests gathered around dozens of tables artfully set with dinner places enough for everyone at the Inn. Each table included flowers, linens, and garlands all matched in smart Whitestone-Blue, darker Owlbear-Blue, black and white with touches of gold accents, all thanks to Caroline's management. The outdoor area so far as one could see had been dressed in one of Lillith's illusions to mimic a beautiful forest clearing at purple-dusk with fireflies dancing, the shapes of buildings and foothills in the distance distinctly cast to look like the city and castle of Whitestone. Ignis and Emma stood by putting a few final touches on what they'd all started calling 'fancy barbecue,' an enormous buffet of haute cuisine smoked and grilled meats with artful sides, a table beside them holding up the massive layer cake Pike had tirelessly fussed into perfection. So many others had come together to help or to wish the de Rolos well - but there would be plenty of time over the evening for them to be thanked and recognized with food, drink, song - there was even an area marked out as a dance floor.
A freshly bathed Trinket in his very own bowtie lumbered up to Vex'ahlia to rumble and lick her face as the pair finally had a moment to react to the spectacle. At ground-level, a small disc-like device with a large serving spoon taped to it had been labeled with marker as Ensign Stubby, rolling its way between tables and chairs while balancing a large, many-times-stabbed basket of flower petals (with a handful left nestled in its giant spoon) on top of its flat surface like a drunken flower girl to finally bump into Vex and Percy's shoes. ...And possibly the best thing about their stunning surprise? That Peter boy had got the whole thing on VHS.

He had his own songs on his list, of course. He might even dazzle everyone with the one about the lighting out of the ass that Curnen had taught him once everyone was sufficiently drunk and Vex might be less likely to murder him.
Clad in a purple suit that had the Madonna Inn crest on the pocket because they had some fantastic ornate clothes and why not? He stood off to the side, re-tuning his lute.
Karaoke Machine - OTA - no need to tag Caroline
Karaoke: n. a form of entertainment, offered typically by bars and clubs, in which people take turns singing popular songs into a microphone over prerecorded backing tracks.
Caroline added a set up sheet beside that with a few simple instructions on how to get the song you wanted. Then, feeling satisfied, left to find mac and cheese.
OTA
He surveys the machine, then picks up and sifts through the notebook before he found the song he wants. The same song he sang when he tried to calm down Aaron when he wouldn't stop crying. Yeah, it didn't work, but it was still fun, and that was the important part.
He taps a few buttons on the machine, picks up the mic, then stands.
Wo! I feel good!" Hurley belts out. "Nuh nuh nuh nuh! I knew that I would now! Nuh nuh nuh nuh! So good! So good! I got you!"
Hurley continues with the rest of the song, finishing the song with as much off-tune gusto as he started with. When the song finally trails off, Hurley raises the microphone a little too close to his mouth and says "Thanks" before setting the mic down on top of the machine --
-- even though he was pretty sure no one was watching. And yeah, sure, the audience was part of karaoke, but it wasn't the most important part. It was more important to have fun.

Coby - by arrangement
Once the karaoke machine was warmed up, of course he was going to sing. That probably didn't surprise anybody. That when his turn came around, he got up and belted out Anarchy in the UK, on the other hand, wasn't something anybody would have predicted, except maybe Jag's pretty fortune teller. Not even Coby.
After, he walked away from the mic and toward the bar for a drink.

The food was good, the cake was lovely, and it seemed like a happy occasion in general. At some point, Xavin knew, he would have to present congratulations to the couple despite having only the vaguest idea of who they were. It was polite. But for the moment he'd claimed a plate of food and a decent place at a table situated for people-watching.

Lady Vex'ahlia de Rolo - OTA
Like they did for Winter's Crest, he'd said.
This was not a small family dinner like they did for Winter's Crest. This was closer to the level of spectacle Vex and Percy had been glad to avoid by not being in Whitestone, although less formal.
This was also, Vex was sure, her brother's way of working out the hurt he felt at not being at her side when she and Percy exchanged their vows. And for that reason, she would celebrate with a smile, and be happy to have him here with her today. Fortunately, the girls' spa day yesterday had left her feeling pampered and relaxed. Poor Percy, on the other hand, was looking a bit ragged around the edges after a night drinking with Vax.
Really, she should have expected something was up when, in getting ready for the 'dinner', she was handed a dress she'd never seen before – brilliant blue, with white flowers, fitted at the top to accentuate her tits, with a flared skirt that showed off her legs in the front and fell lower in the back, and it all fit her beautifully – and told to "wear this." Or when Percival had similarly had his wardrobe picked for him.
The champagne was flowing, there was good food, and her brother looked beyond pleased with himself. As long as everyone had fun, she could Lady de Rolo through the rest.
Vex topped off her glass and offered the bottle and a smile to the person coming up. "Champagne? And you are having fun, aren't you?"
Vex and Zahra
She was beyond happy for her friend. "And for someone who didn't know this was going to be this big - " And truthfully, she didn't either. "You look fabulous as always."

He's been filming for awhile now, taking in the sights and sounds of the party. He's on one side of the room, and then the other, all the while fighting the urge to narrate this video the way he did the one he did en route to and in Germany.
He's dressed in a t-shirt and a jeans and that nice jacket he wore to the New Year's party that he swore he would never wear again because it was too scratchy. The outfit makes him look almost Mr. Stark-esque -- something he totally didn't intend, but happened anyway.
He turns and catches sight of a familiar figure. "Hey," Peter says at them. "Do you have any words for the bride and groom?"
Zahra and Peter
"Are you going to tell them for me?" Which amused her because she could just tell them herself.
Her eyes darted to the thing in his hands. "What is that?"

Earth traditions - OTA - no need to tag Lillith (but you can)
On the day of the party, she waited very patiently for Vex and Percy to cut Pike's lovely cake. And then, when (she thought) no one was looking, she quietly summoned her Mage Hand. Before they could get away, she used the floating spectral hand to pick up a slice of cake, and smush it in Percy's face.
Her own face looked perfectly innocent as she dropped the Mage Hand and pretended absolutely nothing had happened.
Post-caking - for Vex
And now there was cake up his nose, frosting on his glasses and his hair. He hadn't seen the attacker and when he drew off his glasses and squinted against the bright light, he didn't see anyone nearby.
He sent a glare in Scanlan's direction as a best guess at the culprit.

Cake on a plate in hand, she looked out at everyone and ate, smile on her face. She kind of really liked weddings.... when they weren't her own through weird Fae magic.

Either the alcohol, or the manic edge of relief from Snow's forgiveness and Dyson's partnership, or her inner bad girl (the Evil Queen hadn't come from nowhere, after all), sent her over to Bo's side with two full glasses of whiskey. "For you. Now. How do you feel about karaoke?"

Pike - OTA
It was decorated simply with flowers between the tiers and frosting applied in broad strokes to give it a rippled, wavy effect. She was inspired by the Whitestone crest - the bottom tier was colored a deep purple, the middle tier a crisp white, and the top layer a soft, pale blue.
And as for flavors? The bottom tier was for Vex. It was a variation of a Black Forest Cake that she'd renamed a Parshwood Cake after the forest outside of Whitestone. It was dark chocolate cake filled with layers of stewed sour cherries and a milk chocolate whipped cream. To give it the purple exterior, she covered the whole thing in a simple blackberry buttercream frosting. The middle tier was for Percy - a traditional Whitestone dried fruit and nut cake with a cream cheese frosting. It was the only tier she hadn't fussed over, knowing that nothing would outshine the recipe she'd learned from the palace chefs. And the top was for anyone who wanted something a bit lighter. It was the fluffiest vanilla-bean angel food cake that she could make and frosted with a whipped cream just lightly flavored with blueberry.
Once it had been cut and distributed onto tiny plates, she let Liz take over passing them out. She finally took off the apron covering her new golden lace dress which had been made for the occasion and found a nice place to sit and enjoy the moment.
Curnen - OTA
No, that was an exaggeration, Curnen was wildly happy for Vex (and Percy), even if the spirit of the proceedings seemed to be half about razzing them. It felt like a celebration back home that way, and that made her all the more cheerful.
Later, in the privacy of her room, she'd allow herself to remember and mourn Brushy.
Right now, though, she had half an eye on the karaoke machine and considered if or what she'd sing. The rest of her--even though she'd put on her good dress and was at least making an attempt to look like she'd been to town before--was busy running about like the grubby, barefoot, barely-grown woman she looked like.

Corbie - OTA
It was her reward to herself for all the sewing she'd had to do to get ready for today. And for getting Mildmay to actually come. She didn't ask anything else of him, if he wanted to wear all black and find a seat where he could watch everybody and not talk, fair enough. She'd given him a kiss on the cheek.
Much as she shouldn't want anybody to be trapped here with her, it made everything so much better to know she wasn't alone anymore.
So she went to congratulate the mortified couple, greet her friends, maybe say hi to some people she didn't know as well, and check on Mildmay later when enough time had passed that she wasn't fussing but it wouldn't be so much that she'd have forgotten him.
Kitty - for Yana and Hathaway
But good for him. Good for both of them.
And good for her (because sitting around listening to tapes of Lara for the occasional mention of her name was beyond pathetic). Which was why when Yana came to get her, she was wearing a great little dress, strappy sandal heels, "barely-there" make-up, and her hair ironed into loose tousled waves.
"Will I do?" she asked the person in all the world at once least likely to lie to salve her feelings and also least likely to ever say she didn't look perfect. Sometimes she forgot how great it was to have a best friend.
Re: Kitty - for Yana and Hathaway
Which wasn't to say that Illyana hadn't determined to make a slight effort on her own part. (When the shop decided to carry a good-looking dress in your size, you took the dress as a coveted resource and you then deployed it strategically.) The black-metallic dress with keyhole accent and bell sleeves was equal parts chic and brazen, which suited her attitude towards public affairs such as this. She had pulled some of her hair back with a simple clip (a minimum-maintenance look Kitty had demonstrated to her years ago for that matter) and called the attempt made.

Vax'ildan - OTA
And selfishly, it did help to ease the hurt of having missed being at his sister's side for the ceremony words themselves. It did make it easier to let go and let them get on with their lives as husband and wife together. It helped to let him feel like he'd had an opportunity to give her away freely, rather than to find himself stupidly having lost hold of Vex's hand somewhere along the way and not realizing where she'd gone or when. Do not go far from me.
In a moment of quiet between the karaoke caterwauling and laughing so hard his sides ached and his eyes leaked (okay, not only for laughing), Vax leaned his shoulder against a surprisingly solid illusory tree and studied the Sun Tree created in the distance, working his way through a glass of champagne. When Lillith had asked him if he'd mind her putting it in, he'd told her she ought to, for Percy, even knowing why she'd had to ask. Of course, his heart still missed Keyleth, and Grog, other things and other people. But less keenly than it used to. This new place could also be very good to them, he'd decided. There was no way Vex and Percy could've had anything like this between dragons trying to destroy and dominate their homeland. And they deserved this, in every sense.
Re: Vax'ildan - OTA

True Love Will Find You In The End - For Scanlan
Walking up slowly, she lowered the microphone stand and gave Scanlan a nod. The first few notes swept over her and she was transported back to Exandria. She remembered all of those nights spent worrying about her friends, remembered requesting the song from traveling bards in taverns and humming along.
But now it was her turn.

He sang with her.
"Don't give up until, True love will find you in the end"
He finished the the few strums that came after the the words of the song, eyes still on her as if there were no audience and it was only her and him. Maybe for the first time, he wasn't entirely concerned if people were looking at him while he was on stage.

Stephanie - OTA
Which wasn't to say she wasn't having fun or ignoring the party. She eaten and danced and sang. She had barbecue sauce on her cheek but thankfully none on her flower-print dress. She'd lost her shoes at some point, but her bare feet were tough enough not to mind.
It was getting close to the end of the night. The guests of honor had slipped out before it was even properly dark, so they were hopefully many orgasms in by now. Steph stretched out onto a chair and looked up. "Are those our stars or Whitestones?" she wondered out loud.

Mildmay - OTA
So here he was.
It wasn't so bad, actually. Unlike Felix, Corbie trusted him to dress himself, and the twinge of missing Felix that struck when he could imagine his brother's feelings on the black on black on black of his outfit was the same twinge he got every time he missed Felix, and he didn't have no choice but to get used to that. The food was good, and mostly nobody paid him much mind, where he'd found a spot to sit, where Corbie could find him if she wanted, and he could keep an eye on her flitting around being her usual bouncy self, and on most everybody else. But mostly Corbie and those she seemed closest too.
His walking stick, Jashuki, was in reach, and he had his leg's stretched out in front of him, crossed at the ankles. It was more comfortable on his bad leg, but didn't show for anybody who hadn't noticed him limping around in the almost decad and a half he'd been here. He had a beer he was sipping on. And if anybody noticed the thug with the scar lurking around the edge, he gave 'em a nod.
Mildmay/Bo
She sent him a flirtatious smile. "You're new." Which came out a little more sultry than it might normally if she were sober.

Kitty - by arrangement
Her fingers strayed to the jade pendant that hung just above her star of David. I miss you, L. Whatever you're doing, I hope you're safe. I hope you know I didn't forget you either. She sighed quietly and then smiled, head shaking when the unmistakable opening of Bad Romance blasted over the speakers. Her body took over for her brain and before she knew it, she was dancing again.
