Bakery Decisions (OTA)

It had been a few days stuck in an Inn that Quill thought was pretty fantastic except for the fact he was stuck there. It was a place he would bring Gamora, but first he needed to find Gamora. In order to find Gamora, he needed to be back him. This was the main problem.

He was thankful that he could get his nose healed. It looked good-as-new and still one of his best features.

Currently he was looking over the bakery goods. Brownies are classic, but the cupcakes look equally as good

"Oh, it's a classic." Buffy agreed, because classic meant old. She didn't have a problem with old. Her last boyfriend was over two hundred years old.

"I'm more of a boy band girl." She grinned and sang a little of I Want It That Way by the Backstreet Boys.

Quill had never heard of that song before. I kind of dig it.

"Not bad," He said. "It's no Kenny Loggins, but it's not bad. Do you have their album?"

"Not here." Buffy admitted. "I have the CD back home though. I used to listen to it all the time."

"That's too bad." He said honestly. "Maybe one of those otherworlds will be a place where your band dominates the charts and you can buy another one."

Now I kind of want to hear these guys.

"So, have you decided on a something?" He said, eyes back to the treats in front of them.

Now Buffy wished that her Easter surprise egg had music in it instead of a picture of some girl that she had no idea who it was.

She turned her attention back to the bakery counter. "Yep. I think I'm going to get a big brownie and maybe stop by the cafe and get some ice cream to go with it."

Slayer metabolism was a blessing.

"I like your style." He said with a smile, then extended his hand. "I'm Quill, by the way, but everyone calls me Star-Lord."

"Thanks, I'm Buffy, but most people call me Slayer." She figured since he said his title, she'd say hers. Not that she knew what a Star Lord was. But, she was pretty sure he never heard of Slayer either.

"Ooo, Slayer. I like it." He said with a nod. "It sounds super bad-ass."

Quill could tell by looking at her she was much more like Gamora than Mantis.

"What do you slay? Anything or do you have a niche market?" He asked curiously.

"I have a specialty. Vampires. Though I can slay any supernatural bad guy." She was an equal opportunity slayer. "Before I came here I killed a demon that wanted to become some snake god thingy."

She hadn't really paid attention to what the Mayor was going to be, only the last time it died was in a volcano.

Quill made a face.

"Why would anyone want to become a snake god?" He asked. "There has got to be a better type of god out there."

"I know, right? I mean I get that it's supposed to be this all powerful demon Old One god thingy, but a snake? And it wasn't like the Mayor wasn't already super old, he was over a hundred years old." Buffy didn't mention that her boyfriend at the time was over two hundred, that was different.

Quill made an 'ew' face.

"Did he have a lot of wrinkles?" He asked, waving his palm at his face. "I'm picturing a lot of wrinkles. Like those wrinkle dogs."

"Well he definitely could have used more moisturizer but he looked probably like his was in his forties." You know old. "I think he made a deal with a demon or something to stay youngish." Buffy hadn't really paid attention to that part either.

"I know someone like that," Quill said, thinking of Thanos. "He's a big purple d-bag. He could use some moisturizer too. And a face lift.... and by face lift I mean a punch to the face."

Buffy laughed. "Sorry, probably not the normal reaction to someone saying they should punch someone, but I totally get it. I felt that way about The Master. Uh a really old vampire. So what did this purple Thanos guy do that makes you want to punch him?"

"Well, he's been killing a lot of people and he basically kidnapped my girlfriend when she was a kid," He said, but quickly pushed the thought of Gamora aside. "Right now he's trying to kill half the universe and he's getting pretty close to it, so, you know, the plan is to kick his ass before he does that."

“Good plan.” Buffy approved. “You’re just going to wing it aren’t you? Best plans work out that way.” Giles told her what and how to kill but how she went about it was always fluid.

"There's this guy who has this whole 'plan', but most of it is terrible." He said, believing it. "So we came up with a better plan. It has a lot of room for improvisation should it be needed."

"I like improvisation. I mean, don't get me wrong Plan As are always good to start but something always happens that you have to improv. That's where experience comes in." Buffy said as if she'd been doing it a lot longer than she had. Then she grinned, "that and dumb luck but I never admit to that last one."

"Right?" He said in agreement and nodded. "And with my crew that I work with, there's something always that goes wrong. I don't think we've ever had a plan A that worked out without having to do something else along the way."

Quill was still proud of the guardians.

"My group, too." Buffy nodded. "I mean plan A works sometimes but mostly it's thinking on the fly and going with your instinct. I miss my friends." She didn't miss Slaying though sometimes she did miss the adrenaline and excitement.

"You have a group too?" Quill asked, interested. "Do they have a cool name too?"

"My best friend was gonna call themselves the Slayerettes, but it didn't stick. Mostly, they're known as the Scoobies." And it fit. "Except we don't have the guy in the rubber mask, we have vampires and big bads."

"Wait, like, as in Scooby-Do?" Quill said. "That's amazing. I mean, not as good as Guardians of the Galaxy, but it's definitely up there."

"As in. My best friend Willow is definitely Velma and my other best friend Xander is definitely Shaggy. Except he's not scared like that but he could eat a ginormous sandwich." But that might just be a guy thing.
