Warm Jelly Donut - Open

Clarice still didn't sleep in her room. There were trust issues and decorating taste issues, but she was spending more time at the 'compound' as she called the Inn. Since the inhibitor collar was removed, Clarice's powers had been broken. She was pretty sure it had to do with everything that had happened to her, at least she hoped so.

So far everything that she'd tried to teleport came back split in two, even after she'd visited the places. Sometimes, it wouldn't hold true and fizzle out after a couple of minutes. The frustration was growing and she knew that made it even worse. She could hear John in her ear to concentrate on something you like.

She sat in the lobby, in one of the padded chairs, with a glowing light between her hands and a bunch of tennis balls at her feet. There was a light from the ceiling above, that correlated to the one between her hands. Clarice picked up one of the balls and tossed it through the teleport only to have two halves fall at her feet.

"Warm Jelly Donut."

Sunny smiled and spread her arms wide in a shrug. "That hypothesis will have to be left to a better mind than mine." But now that she knew what she was looking at was a teleportation ability she had to ask, "So is tennis ball guillotine a new trick?"

"Hm..." Sunny leaned in a little closer, intrigued by this. She had not learned any teleporting spells herself, any getting from place to place faster than normal was due entirely to time manipulation.

Then again, if space and time were supposed to be the same thing, it was at least somewhat related. Possibly. "How is it supposed to work?"

"So," Sunny said, considering the problem of the split tennis balls, "What, the door's shutting on the things you're sending through?"

"Did something change recently?" Sunny asked, turning her attention back to Clarice. "Aside from being here, though who knows, that might be it."

Sunny winced in sympathy. She had never had her powers inhibited in such a way, but she had been separated from them before. "How long were you wearing the collar?"

Sunny nodded, pointedly not remembering her three days fighting for her life against the djinn. When she'd come out of that, she'd thought for a miserable time after that her magic was completely gone. "Could be the shock of it... well, wounded your power so to speak, and it needs time to heal."

Sunny winced in sympathy. "If there's anything actually damaged, one of the resident healers might be able to do something about it. I don't know, but it might be worth a shot."

"Kash does," Sunny confirmed with a nod. "If it's a physical thing, he might be able to help." He'd healed her more than once when they'd had a mishap with the spear--she had the power and the knowledge to heal herself, but because she needed her powders to do that, her capacity was limited. She saved it for emergencies, and emergencies she knew exactly what the problem was.

Sunny nodded again. It was no skin off her nose if the recommendation was taken or not. She certainly had her preferences of who she talked to when she asked for help and who she didn't. "Either way, Kash is good people. Grumpy, but that's half the fun of talking to him."

"Bitchy is an excellent thing to be," Sunny said with an answering smile. "And if that's the case, you two should get on beautifully."

"Then we should also get on just fine," Sunny laughed. "Though for right now, maybe I should leave you to tennis ball guillotine."

Sunny laughed harder as she got to her feet. "I believe in your ability to carry out this solemn duty. I'll see you around," she said as she turned to go.
