Warm Jelly Donut - Open

Clarice still didn't sleep in her room. There were trust issues and decorating taste issues, but she was spending more time at the 'compound' as she called the Inn. Since the inhibitor collar was removed, Clarice's powers had been broken. She was pretty sure it had to do with everything that had happened to her, at least she hoped so.

So far everything that she'd tried to teleport came back split in two, even after she'd visited the places. Sometimes, it wouldn't hold true and fizzle out after a couple of minutes. The frustration was growing and she knew that made it even worse. She could hear John in her ear to concentrate on something you like.

She sat in the lobby, in one of the padded chairs, with a glowing light between her hands and a bunch of tennis balls at her feet. There was a light from the ceiling above, that correlated to the one between her hands. Clarice picked up one of the balls and tossed it through the teleport only to have two halves fall at her feet.

"Warm Jelly Donut."

"Uh," Quill said, feeling like he was wading into some deep lake he didn't want to swim out further into. "I mean they seemed to want to save the people of Earth, not let most of them die?"

"Nice save." Clarice said with amusement.

"The X-men were like that but they bailed when the world went to shit." To be fair, no one knew what happened to them, but Clarice believed it was premeditated.

"Sounds like a group of losers," Quill said. "For the record, if the Guardians had been around, we wouldn't have abandoned anyone."

Quill wanted to make sure that was said.

"Yeah? What would you have done in a world that hunts mutants?" It was an unfair question, especially since you couldn't change hatred and fear. She asked it anyway.

"Uh, stop them?" He said as if the answer were obvious. "Kick everyone's ass who thought otherwise and if that didn't work then I'd just kick all the d-bags off the planet entirely."

Clarice chuckled at that, it might be a little evil chuckle. "I doubt you'd be able to kick all the mutant hating people off of Earth but I like the thought." It was a nice thought especially after arriving from being a lab rat.

"Stranger things have happened, trust me." He said with a smile. "But at least you're here now, right? Away from all those idiots."

"So far." Clarice admitted. "It's easy to get along when most of the people here are freaks." Which she actually didn't mind.

[st_arlord]

"Hey," He said, obviously feigning being upset. "Speak for yourself, lady."

Quill then winked and grinned.
