strangetrip | That Escalated Quickly (OTA)

Liz was out away from the Inn around noon trying to complete a science experiment that she thought might be useful for the obstacle course she and Kitty were almost ready to start building. She had all the components laid out including benign acids and basis. She wanted to see how she could cause a spray of foam jut out as an obstacle that might need to be avoided or at least distract for a while. It was like a much more sophisticated volcano experiment but instead of 'oozing lava', her goal was for spraying foam.

She was currently on the ground writing notes about a failed attempt - doing things like this was nice to get her mind off of other things that had been taxing her mind lately. That's when she heard panting. Liz looked up, expecting, maybe, to see Dante, but what she saw made her freeze. There was a wolf a few yards away. In her peripherals, she could see three more. Liz knew enough about wolves that she figured there had to be a few more behind her, since they hunt in packs. She started to do quick calculations on how fast they probably were and how fast she was not and then what chemicals she had with her that might be good distractions...

(ooc: Anyone who has a pup itching to use their powers or feel useful, feel free to come help Liz out. There is 6 or 7 wolves depending on your needs [a typical wolf pack size])

"So you can track criminals better than most people." She thought that was really useful. They used dogs all the time, but as far as she knew, dogs couldn't communicate as effectively as humans. "Does it make being a police any easier?"

"It can make things easier," so too could being partnered with a siren. "But I also have a wolf's temper. That has gotten me in trouble as often as heightened senses has gotten me my criminal."

"Do wolves really have a bigger temper than humans?" She could think of a few people who got pretty mad on their own.

He considered that, "Maybe not bigger but... less civilized maybe? Less constrained. Wolves are wild things, man is not." So while humans or men of any species might have similar tempers certain species had their under tighter rein he thought.

Or maybe he just had trouble reining his in.

She wondered brieflty where Michael's temper fell.

"Well, I guess I'll try not to make you angry then." She smiled a little, joking.

"I hope I didn't, um, you know, ruin any social dynamic... Out there." With the other pact, she meant.

"You didn't," he glance back as well. He had been aware of wolves in the woods, but he wasn't a pack joiner. Nor was he a pack leader.

"There are two types of wolves, I'm too... alpha for lack of a better term to be in a pack without being considered a risk to the hierarchy. But I have no desire to be the pack leader, and live in that form consistently."

Sort of on the outside of both worlds, she guessed. "Is it easier here at the inn? To be yourself both ways?"

"I'm myself both ways back home," for all that the fae were hidden from humans he didn't live a hidden life.

"Oh, well, that's good." Peter had to hide he was Spider-Man back home and she knew of a few others. "Sometimes I wonder if the me here is more real than back home... But I guess that's more of a high school problem."

"More real?" he asked, considering her words, her question. "Because here you don't have to hide?"

"Or, because I, I don't know, I don't have to be someone for everyone?" She made a face. "That probably doesn't even make sense. Sorry."

"No, it does," and it highlighted her youth. Even for a human she was fairly young. For a fae.

"Eventually, you'll learn that you don't have to be anyone but who you are. Everyone else will survive."

She smiled at that. "People keep saying that sort of thing to me... and, I'm trying." It was just really hard. The idea she might let someone down really bothered her.

"I should, um, get back... and get a new pair of shoes." She'd have to tell Peter, too, or else he'd be more upset if he found out later.

"Then I won't keep you," if only because he needed to go get his clothes. "I'll patrol a bit, make sure they don't come back."

She nodded, still feeling rather grateful for his help. "Thank you. If you ever need help with anything, just, um. Let me know." Not that she thought she could help him in any sort of real way.

"I'll remember that," because you never knew where help would come from.
