[GP] Food for the soul

Carlos hated being back at the hotel. He had begun by trying to access the Nevernever but that had totally failed, then caught up with Buffy to go and visit both London and Edinburgh, for varying reasons, and the rest of the time he had headed to Spain - he may have been well travelled, but rarely got time to be a tourist - but his time relaxing and finding out about Spain had been unceremoniously cut short when he woke up and found himself back at the hotel. For a few moments he lay there, utterly fed up, and just feeling incredibly homesick.

That only lasted a few minutes; after that he was a man on a mission.

He hunted out Caroline, and had a long chat with her. Plans were set. Time to cook up a storm. They'd missed 4th July, this could serve as a belated celebration, as well as a 'things ain't all bad here' event. Posters went up throughout the hotel, giving notice of a cook out. Everyone was encouraged to attend. What could be bad about this?

Grills were set up outside to cook up as much meat as they could hold; non-meat options were there as well for variety; salads prepared... a vast array of food to try and cheer up anyone who needed it. Carlos took his place at the grills, brandishing tools, turning the meat over just at the right point.

All that was needed now was people to attend.

"Sure do." He said proudly. "She's beautiful and can kick-ass. And she's green.. one thing those Star Trek shows seemed to get right."

He missed Gamora a lot.

"What about you?" He asked. "You have anyone here on your radar?"

"There's a lot of hot women here." Dean said as a way of a non-answer and then relented, "but yeah." He smirked, "have you seen the smoking hot brunette with tattoos everywhere?"

And they were everywhere.

"I've seen some with tattoos, but I'm going to guess you mean the one with them all over." He said, thinking of Jane. "That's a lot of dedication to the Ink. It's impressive, really."

"Yeah it is." Dean said, it wasn't his story to tell about how the tattoos came about.

"She's got a strong will." He smiled slightly, "which can sometimes be a pain in the ass." When her strong will collides with his.

"Oh man, I hear that," he said with a nod. "Gamora? Stubborn as hell. And it took her forever to admit that she likes me, even though I knew. And she could definitely kick my butt."

He smiled fondly. Quill was enamored.

"Yeah, Jane can kick my ass, too." It was said with pride. He held up his beer bottle in a salute, "God bless, stubborn, beautiful women."

Quill lifted a deviled egg. He had no room to hold a beer which was unfortunate.

God, I miss Gamora

"You know, you're a lot more pleasant than your counter-part." He said, meaning Alec.

"I can be a dick, too." Dean admitted. "Alec just doesn't have my charm yet." He was teasing of course, Alec had exactly his charm but Quill wouldn't know that.

"So you're saying you guys are like wine, huh?" He said. "Gets better with age? I'll try to keep that in mind if he takes another swing at me."

"Damn straight." Dean smirked, knowing it would probably irritate Alec. See? They were a lot alike.

"Why'd he take a swing at you?"

"Who knows?" Quill replied with palms up and an incredulous shake of his head. "I literally just got to this place and I had a fist in my face. I mean, it isn't the first time, granted, but I like my face. Thankfully the people here with magic healed me."

Dean didn't for one minute believe that 'Starlord' didn't know why Alec hit him, but he let it pass.

"Seriously? You let magic people heal you?" Dean looked at him just as incredibly.

"Yeah, sure, why not?" He said, shrugging. "My nose was broken and then it wasn't. It was sweet."

"Uh huh. And how has your time been here since then? Anything feeling like you've been cursed? A run of bad luck? Just sayin'." Dean didn't trust magical healers - he barely trusted the witches that he liked at the Inn.

Quill looked confused.

"Cursed?" He repeated thoughtfully. "Except for this one time after, no. Things have been okay. Why? You think I could be cursed?"

"You could be." Dean nodded, "witches are sneaky bastards like that. Anything weird happen to you lately? Uh, besides being in a butt ugly inn."

Quill squinted thoughtfully.

"I woke up with a zit two days ago," He said. "I never get zits."

"Oh man. It could be the start of some growth." Dean made a face. "I wouldn't take a chance. I'd have that looked at by a real doctor."

He nodded seriously and with a vague hint of panic. Need to talk to Rocket ASAP

Quill cleared his throat.

"Right," He said. "So.. if you'll excuse me, then. I have a thing I need to do.. over there."

In the direction of the clinic
