[Backdated 8/25 - mini-GP open to team demilich or by request] is anyone dead?

Coming back to consciousness hurt, significantly more than Loki remembered hurting in recent memory. There didn't seem to be a single part of his body that wasn't in some kind of pain, and on top of that he became aware, very quickly, of an odd whistling emptiness that said too much magic. He couldn't even have called one of his knives.

All of that being the case, he didn't move. If the fight was still going on, he intended to stay down. For a little while. Until he had something to act with or on. Or until he legitimately passed out again; that seemed horribly likely, with the way his head was swimming and the warm-wet of blood flowing out instead of staying in.

The desert was essentially silent, though, for the definition of 'silence' that included the sounds of wind and ordinary movement. Footsteps. Voices.

He wasn't dead, then. Was anyone else?

"Good point and since there's not a lot of memories to talk about, so any wake at the inn will be pretty much an excuse to party." Clarice took the opportunity to sit, though it might have looked less like sitting and more like plopping.

He’d have moved to give her more or better space, but that was not happening for at least a few minutes. Both their bodies would just have to stay where they fell. “I do have one request, should I happen to die. At my wake, someone needs to stab my brother. He’d appreciate it.”

"You got it. Anyone in particular or will I do?" Clarice said with a hint of a smile still in her voice. She liked Thor, she wouldn't actually stab him.

She moved her legs, pleased that she could, and crossed them "Indian" style in front of her to get more comfortable.

"You'll do." Of course she wouldn't, but she was willing to play along with the last wishes of someone who wasn't actually dying, and that earned her some points.

Some more points. "Your portals are very impressive, by the way."

"Thanks. It was kind of fun to watch Thor play ping pong with that skull through them." It was something that she'd never done before but it was something she would definitely do again - well with Carlo's barrier or maybe the side of a building next time. If there was a next time.

"You did some pretty kick ass magical mojo yourself." Not that Clarice knew what it was he'd done except save her ass a few times.

"Virtually nothing in my actual wheelhouse." Loki gestured with his right hand (his left hung dislocated and useless at his side), then winced as the muscles pulled over broken ribs. "The damned thing saw through my illusions, so I had to get creative."

"The best battle tactics usually do get pulled out of the ass when you need it." Clarice said, "and you did a good job of improvising. I bet you've done it before."

"You've met my brother. How well do you think my plans survive around him?" Not well, though it had to be said that it wasn't (just) because Thor was bad at plans. He was bad at Loki's plans specifically; they were generally too different.

"I just figured you'd know they'd go to hell and plan accordingly." She was able to let a smile slide across her lips. "Thor seems to inspire plan W and plan Z."

Loki offered a tired return smile. "Sometimes, if I'm lucky, I can stop at K." Sometimes he could predict the exact way Thor would jink before he actually did. But not often, lately.

"You get a gold star for that." Clarice said with humor and then dropped her head forward on a sigh.

"When we get back to the Inn and after I've slept for about a month, I'm treating everyone to a we survived this shit alcohol blowout party, because we all deserve one."

Her lips curved, "maybe make a skull pinata so we can hit it again and again."

"I will attend that party. And I can make the stick for hitting the pinata look like Thor's axe." Thor would either be delighted or offended, and either way would be entertaining.

Clarice laughed and then stopped abruptly. "Okay, no more laughing, but dude that is fantastic. We should definitely have the stick that you hit the pinata with be his axe."

“Bonus points if we position the thing so it can bounce off a wall.” Mimicking the portal and barrier combination that had been so entertaining.

"Oh, well that goes without saying." Clarice snickered. "I'm all for smacking the shit out of it against the stupid pink walls. I might accidentally on purpose hit the pink wall while missing the skull a time or three."

“I sincerely doubt anyone would judge you for such an innocent mistake.” All the better if the exercise turned into ‘accidentally knock down a wall’. It would be repaired! So it didn’t matter.

"They'd probably join me." Clarice predicted. "Maybe I'll drag my stupid Buffalo head down from my room for people to hit." She glanced over at Loki, "You have anything in your room you'd like to let the crowd destroy?"

Sure it would probably be repaired and reappear in the room but it would be satisfying for that moment.

“My room is shockingly inoffensive.” It was, honestly, a very pleasant room.

"Then you're lucky. How did you rate anyway?" At least hers wasn't as bad as some others that she'd seen. "If mine didn't have that stupid buffalo head, it wouldn't be so bad."

"I've been assuming the assignments are random." How else would Thor end up with a horrifying flowery child's room? Not that he was upset about it, only that it was a puzzle. "I'm just pleased at the lack of pink."

"Yeah, me, too. Mine's green. I can live with that." Clarice considered it. "Wouldn't it be a kick in the ass if our rooms are tied to some key information about the inn?"
