Long and naturally straight, Maya's hair was about as low maintenance as you could get without shaving your head, but she enjoyed getting pampered as much as the next person. So even if her hair didn't technically need more than regular trims, she'd spent plenty of time in hair salons. Time spent watching in the mirror or with her chair turned to face more of the room so she could join in the conversations. Time watching high-priced, highly trained, ultra competitive New York stylists and aestheticians make other people look good.
Now she was stuck at the inn, and while she'd had a passing thought off and on to the gap in hotel amenities – usually when noticing someone else's hair in one of the more awkward stages of growing out – she hadn't made up her mind to do anything about it until she was comparing sections of her hair to make sure she got the ends even instead of jagged as she gave herself a trim.
Once she had, she'd taken over a room in the spa and put a note on the bulletin board offering:
Haircuts
Shampoo/Style/Blowdry
Facials/Facial Waxing
Saturday or by appointment
And when Saturday came, she was ready. Now to see if anybody wanted to take her up on the offer.
