[GP] Shoot that poison arrow

None of the guests noticed when the spiky-haired man-child in jeans and purple t-shirt, wrists wrapped in cheap leather and metal bracelets, arrived at the Madonna Inn a few hours before midnight on February 13. That, in itself, wasn't all that surprising. Eros, otherwise known as Danny Valentine, had millennia of experience doing his job without being spotted.

What was surprising was that the dude at the front desk did see him. Tall and Nondescript waved him over and then gave him a room number 'in case you wanted to rest'. But Danny didn't.

Want to, or rest. He spent the time before the clock struck midnight polishing his love gun. Not like that. He'd find a girl to spend his nameday with. He always did. No, this little beauty was made by Hephaestus himself. It shot love darts that disappeared on contact.

At midnight, kitted out with more love darts than there were people in this pink and gold monstrosity, Danny left his room and shot the first person he saw--and didn't wait to see what would happen.

No point getting a slow start. He had a lot of work to do.

"There's a supervillain behind this. I'm sure of it." Steph reached out and poked a bouquet of gilt-tipped velvet roses - WHY? - and shook her head in amazement. "This level of commitment to a theme is the sign of a seriously disturbed mind. I mean, the hotel in and of itself should have been enough, right? There's over the top and there's this."

"Could be." For a second, that made total sense. After that and a slight (immediately forgotten) twinge in the back of his neck, the only thing that made any sense was that there he was standing and talking to a seriously hot chick about Valentine's and decorations instead of... of... any of the million other things his downstairs brain was suddenly reminding him were a lot more fun than talking.

Without thinking of anything past want shading to need, Dean reached out to slide an arm around her waist and half-step half-pull her into a deep kiss.

Sheer shock kept her in place for a second, then instinct a bit longer than that. She lifted her hand to shove him back but he was actually pretty good at this and he was hot and...fuck it. It was Valentine's. So instead of breaking his kneecap for grabbing hold of her, Steph went with it.

Yes, shut up, it had been a really long time. Besides, it's not like guys named Dean had ever been a problem for her before.

The need faded fairly quickly, but since it had been replaced by less mystical but still pretty insistent hormones, Dean didn't notice much. What he did notice was he hadn't been punched in the face, Steph was a fantastic kisser, and she had muscle tone that would make obsessive yoga instructors jealous.

Even still, the need to breathe and some awareness that they were in a public spot filtered through, and with damn near a million regrets, he let her go. "...Still thinking supervillain?" Because he was prepared to say 'pretty awesome supervillain' if so.

She was, she noticed, still holding onto his arms in a way that sort of indicated she hadn't yet decided about that punching thing. Her mouth tingled the way it generally did after being seriously kissed.

At this rate, she was going to need to buy some chapstick from the store. "I guess that depends...did you, like, sniff any weird flowers recently?" She licked her lips and gave the velvet roses a glare. They responded with dusty indifference. "Because either supervillain or I should probably slug you for not buying me dinner first."

"Dinner's not usually my go-to." Dean had no problem admitting that, because he figured Steph had probably already figured him out that much. Because he wasn't a complicated dude. "Flowers either. Shots're more my speed. Is that still a slugging or does that get me down to open-hand slap?"

Steph laughed and leaned up to give him a hard kiss, more friendly than anything else, not that she was against anything else exactly. But... "I'm pretty sure it's supervillain, which means you're off the hook this time. Probably in the plants. This kind of thing is always in the plants."

As long as his kneecaps and 'nads were safe, those were the important points. Supervillain, witch, or other could be determined later. "Least it could've been worse, huh? But I'll keep an eye on the things. Think most of'em are fake though." Perfume, then? Could be. Would anyone notice that?

"Could have been. Watch out for yourself today. Chances are, this kind of thing is going to keep flaring up. I got kissed a little bit earlier by Henry. Then I think he almost died of embarrassment." She stepped back. "Next time you go in for a kiss, give me some warning."

She winked, then headed off. This was a job for Batgirl.
