strangetrip | [GP] Shoot that poison arrow

None of the guests noticed when the spiky-haired man-child in jeans and purple t-shirt, wrists wrapped in cheap leather and metal bracelets, arrived at the Madonna Inn a few hours before midnight on February 13. That, in itself, wasn't all that surprising. Eros, otherwise known as Danny Valentine, had millennia of experience doing his job without being spotted.

What was surprising was that the dude at the front desk did see him. Tall and Nondescript waved him over and then gave him a room number 'in case you wanted to rest'. But Danny didn't.

Want to, or rest. He spent the time before the clock struck midnight polishing his love gun. Not like that. He'd find a girl to spend his nameday with. He always did. No, this little beauty was made by Hephaestus himself. It shot love darts that disappeared on contact.

At midnight, kitted out with more love darts than there were people in this pink and gold monstrosity, Danny left his room and shot the first person he saw--and didn't wait to see what would happen.

No point getting a slow start. He had a lot of work to do.

"Oh is that what they call it?" Buffy enjoyed sparring with Alex. It was like with Giles but different. She shifted her weight to balance it before she threw a punch toward his left side.

Alex was quick but not quick enough that Buffy's hit landed a glancing blow. "Nice first move, but you're going to have to do better than that." He taunted prepared to throw a punch, but instead wrapped his hand around her tiny waist and tugged to get her to lose her balance.

Buffy went down with a whoof of air escaping her lips. She knew enough to roll with her weight so that her sharp elbow wouldn't land in his abdomen when he fell beside her. Though there was a brief moment when Buffy wondered if it would bounce off the rock hardness of it. Definitely not a Giles thought.

She cheated and used some of her Slayer strength to make sure that she was on top and Alex was underneath. A slow smirk teased the edges of her lips as she held him down. "What was that? Did I hear you say Uncle?"

It wasn't the first time they'd ended up with Alex being mildly surprised at the strength of Buffy and he was pretty sure it wouldn't be the last. However, this was different. For the first time Alex really noticed how attractive she was. Before he could stop himself his weight shifted and he reached up to put his hand behind her neck. But, instead of twisting them so their roles were reversed, he brought her head down for a kiss.

Buffy blinked in surprise at the unexpected gesture, not sure what to do, so she just returned the kiss. It wasn't that Alex wasn't hot, he was, but he was uber old. Which was an ironic thought given Angel had a bicentennial.

The kiss lingered for just a moment longer and then Alex came to himself with a crash as well as an abrupt snap back of his head. The kiss was unceremoniously ended. "What the hell was that?" He muttered before he added with more normal tone. "God, I am so sorry. I have no idea what I was thinking."

Buffy was relieved when it ended but she felt bad for Alex. "Hey, it's okay. Really. I'm going to guess you were under a love spell." She held up her hand before he could say anything. "I know how weird that is for you but I've been under one, too before and I kind of know how it feels. You remember what you did but like a dream, you weren't in control and then suddenly everything gets real and clear." She moved to stand up so he wouldn't feel worse than he did but she reached out and patted him on the arm. "Apology accepted but not necessary."

It was a perfect description of what he'd felt, but there was no way that Alex would believe a love spell. He would believe mind manipulation over that and that was what he latched on to. Just one more person or persons manipulating him and he was sick of it. He wanted control back. He forced his muscles to relax and Alex forced his hand to be gentle on hers. "Thanks for understanding. Now I really feel like I want to hit something. Hard."

"Yeah I get that." Buffy grinned, "I feel like hitting things hard a lot since coming to the hotel, especially when I see my room. I think I'll go on a run this time though. Maybe hit something hard when I get back."

Mainly she wanted to be away from people with the stupid love spell. With her luck she'd fall in love with Ethan and then she really would have to spend the rest of her life in therapy!

Alex appreciated how well she was taking everything that happened, not making him feel more awkward than he already did. "Maybe I'll go looking for a punching bag or stuff a pillow case with sand and make my own."

"Oooh, that's a good idea. If you make one, let me know how you do it and I'll make one for me, too." Buffy shot him a grin before heading toward the door. "Or I'll just use yours."
