Thor and Loki got an early start, because there was a lot to do. Almost two weeks to the day since their first small-but-successful experiment with snow, Loki was confident that he'd improved enough for a bigger experiment. Still snow, because Thor wanted it and it did seem like a decent way to try something big-ish without causing Loki unnecessary grief with the other residents. (It was an arrival day, so there would perhaps be some grief with any new arrivals, but that was entirely acceptable.)

It was before dawn when they went out into the grounds. Thor called up clouds and loaded them with water so they hung low and heavy, covering the sky so that the sun, when it rose, wouldn't ruin the event. Loki took his frost giant shape and staff (now very familiar to his hand) and concentrated on dropping the temperature. Just around the Inn and grounds, but that was enough to be serious effort.

When the snow first started, the flakes were big and wet, and melted as soon as they hit the ground, which was still on the warm side. As they melted, they cooled the ground. After an hour or so, the flakes were smaller and more powdery - real snow, not glorified slush - and they were starting to stick to the ground.

By mid-morning, the Inn and grounds were covered with a thick layer of snow, and it continued to fall.

Meanwhile, indoors and inspired by the snow, Hurley and Xavin decided to try and make cookies. Cooking together was fun, since neither of them exactly knew what they were doing apart from 'follow the recipe', but since the point was 'try to make cookies' they ended up with a lot of cookies. Sugar cookies, gingerbread, all kinds.

There was no way they'd be able to eat all of them.

Instead, they loaded them onto trays and hauled them to the cafe, then brought out various frostings and candies for decorating. This had been completely intentional. Completely.

“There are reasons.” Loki quirked a little smile and held out a hand, offering it to Bo to touch. Freezing cold, literally burning, a touch that could shatter armor.

Bo's interest was piqued. She reached out to touch him and almost instantly felt the cold. It wasn't just cold, it was the sort of cold you knew you couldn't survive for very long in without dying. She pulled back her hand - that was new from him. She shouldn't have been as surprised as she was since Bo was sure she hadn't even begun to scratch the surface of what Loki was capable of.

"Well... that's one way to get a girl's attention." It was a bit of a double entendre which might be easy to catch - since Bo wasn't a bra wearer, the cold had caused her nipples to harden against the fabric of her shirt.

“And that’s never not a goal of mine.” It was also never really a goal per se, even if he enjoyed the attention. “However, doing this in bed would seem to defeat the purpose.” Apart, of course, from the fact that he wasn’t especially comfortable in the blue skin, causing Bo to need to heal as she fed seemed rude when feeding was the point.

"I suppose." She let her eyes take in his new features. She got the feeling it might be a rare sight to see. "Doesn't mean there's not a part of me that wishes I could experience it." She supposed she'd just have to settle for ice cubes. "How many more tricks do you have up your sleeve?"

“I’m fifteen hundred years old. How many do you want?” Many of his tricks were similar, based as they tended to be in illusion, but illusion was pure variety, so it worked out.

She smiled at that. "What if I said I'd love to see it all?" Bo couldn't help but be a little defiant. "I'll either have a lifetime to see them or no time at all. Either way, sounds entertaining.

He reached out to touch her cheek, briefly and lightly, heedless of the fact that yes: still cold enough to burn. “You know I’m willing. Rules aren’t my idea, I just agree to abide by them when it suits me.”

The nice thing about being Fae was she could heal fast. The nicer thing about being a succubus was if she needed to heal quickly, it was possible. Those two weren't the only reasons why she didn't pull away when he reached out, but they were two that were good as any. "Maybe for now we'll keep it to a thing or two."

“I do have at least that many.” If they hadn’t been out in the open and he hadn’t been in frozen frost giant skin, he might have tried for a kiss. It might even have mostly abided by rules and been friendly to the cheek, but then again, maybe not.

So it was safest this way. “A thing or two should be manageable.”

She smiled and after a moment, decided to let the issue pass for now. Instead, she glanced in the direction of where Thor was having too much fun. "You've definitely made Thor happy."

"Often not a difficult prospect." For most people, anyway. For him, it often was, if only because Thor tended to be made happy by very obvious things, and Loki disliked being out in the open that much. "My brother is for the most part built for happiness."

"I wonder what that says about me." She and Thor did not exactly have the most pleasant relationship, though it seemed lately Thor could tolerate her a little more.

Loki shrugged. "It says you aren't something he can control. I gather he wasn't exactly in the driver's seat when you two first met. Between that and the fact that he's somewhat sensitive about me, for whatever reason, you're starting from a fair distance back through no real fault of your own."

For whatever reason - Bo could have flicked him in the nose for that comment.

"He did give me a pretty big warning not to mess with you." Of course, she wondered what Thor would think if he found out the deal she made with Loki behind his back. "Really, it's the only thing keeping you safe, you know." She deadpanned, but the amusement was in her eyes.

Loki laughed. "Oh, yes. Didn't you know? I'm thoroughly helpless, incapable of looking after my own affairs, and a victim for whoever cares to have a go." Loki was aware of a few reasons for Thor's overprotectiveness, and equally aware that Thor intended no insult to his capability despite the presence of said insult. It kept him from getting angry or offended, and rendered the whole thing funny instead.

"Good thing I have your interest in mind." Which she did, either way. "And you have that easy-on-the-eyes protector of yours around." To which she meant Valkyrie, of course.

"Oh, she does not protect me." It was rather the opposite, with the way their preferences lined up: Valkyrie enjoyed dishing out pain, and he enjoyed taking it. "We both like it that way."

Bo definitely picked up on that as he said it and her lips pressed into a wry smile and then to something even more playful. "Sounds like you two finally decided to have a little fun. I'm only a little bit jealous."

“We spar, that’s all.” A lie, but Loki wasn’t sure at all how private Valkyrie wanted to be. Or how private he did. “She’s quite good with knives.” Very, very true. “No need to be jealous. She’s not disallowed for you, if you’re both inclined, after all.”

That much was true - she could sleep and feed on Valkyrie as much as she liked. Still, Bo was for more interested on Loki's interest on the kick-ass woman. "Well, don't let the opportunity pass you by."

"I may or may not, depending on the situation." He already hadn't, of course, and intended to continue seizing opportunities as they came up. "But I do always have to remember that there's really nowhere to run if I misjudge."

"You're not wrong." Bo often wondered what would happen if there was a big messy break up. "Though I'm probably not the best authority on how to deal with relationships when they get messy." Her love life in general was usually pretty rocky.

“I have a foolproof method of dealing with that, which I call ‘not entering relationships’.” Bo was probably the closest he’d ever gotten, and even that could never really be described as a relationship. At least, not in the sense she’d meant.

"I guess I'm just a sucker for punishment." She sent him a small, wry smile.

"Possibly!" Certainly she was willing to accept ridiculous and potentially dangerous restrictions 'because love', but that might well just be a general 'love' thing. "But I am willing to admit that my method wouldn't work for everyone." It was simply the only option and method he had.
