Since Vex's arrival Kash had lightened up some. At least he thought he had. He'd gratuitously introduced himself to the elf woman, Merrill, and the elf dude with the strange markings, Fenris. He was regularly working with Alex on his leg and trying to help Jane where he could.
This afternoon, he'd offered to take Trinket out for a ramble. Vex probably needed Percy time, right? Or just, the bear was good company. Mutually companionable grunts instead of conversation. Either way, having company while he searched for somewhere that his Send to Zahra might get through was good. And it was probably what made him think of saying sorry.
He and Trinket wandered for a good long time while Kash gathered up wildflowers. Later, when they came back to the hotel, he bound the flowers into four bundles, tied them with string, and wrote notes on little cards he found in the "gift shop" and then delivered them to four separate doors without waiting for the occupants. He wouldn't blame them if they didn't want to see him. And even if he was being civilized, he still didn't want to "chat".
On each of Caroline, Joanna, Rey and River T's doors, a small, pretty bouquet of handpicked wildflowers bore a card that said simply, "Sorry I was such a jerk. - Kashaw."
