Vex still didn't know what to make of everything at the inn being free.
On one hand - free, and free was good. (She wasn't cheap, just frugal, and it was better to keep coin for when you needed it than spend without question and be skint when it mattered. She'd been that kind of poor before, and she didn't plan on letting it happen again.)
On the other - she liked talking with merchants, charming them into giving her the best deal possible. It was fun, and she accomplished something in the process. And how could things be worth something if you could just take what you wanted without any recompense? (The broom was different, and she wasn't giving it up.)
So the rooms were free, and the drinks, and the food. That was only fair, seeing how who or whatever had brought them here wasn't letting them leave. But the shops... That Vex had to see for herself. Besides, she had a quest of sorts, although she'd save that for the end.
The gift shop, she decided as she scanned the shelves, wasn't anything like most of the shops she knew in Tal'Dorei. It was mostly bits and bobs decorated with the name of the inn, although there were some small vials made of the same strange material as the so-called keys and other things found around the place. With no shopkeeper to stop her, or to answer any questions, she opened a vial labeled "shampoo" and sniffed. Floral and fruity, but not like anything she'd smelled before. She tipped the vial over to get a look at what was inside. It was thick, viscous even, pink (because of course it was) and sparkly, and slick when she rubbed a dab between finger and thumb. Interesting.
